I doubt local manufacturers can compete against the Chinese. Talked to an amiga and she talks about all her friends buying Shein. No amount of local companies can compete against those companies from China. I always wondered about this and how it turns out.

These companies were never competitive. They were overpriced and poor quality. Too much protectionism and taxes. Consumers are loving the lower pries and doubt they care where these items are produced and care more about price.

Without this protectionism these local companies had to get competitive but they never did. Prices were outrageous. Instead of making money on volume they were always overpriced. I applaud Milei for bringing competition and making these Argentine companies compete. The problem with this is many locals are losing their jobs and more will close down.

True and many foreign companies are pulling out of Argentina because it does not make sense. Add Whirlpool to the list that announced they will stop producing items in Argentina. Can't make money.

What I am noticing is more and more of my friends are going into serious credit card debt now just trying to pay for things.
