The Dance Championship begins, qualifying for Tango BA Festival and World Cup​

From this Wednesday, May 8th to May 19th, the 20th edition of the tango event in Buenos Aires arrives. It will take place in legendary milongas, Cultural Spaces and at the Art Plant.
Organized by the City Ministry of Culture, the 20th edition of the City Dance Championship begins , from Wednesday, May 8 to Sunday, May 19.

This year, the contest will take place in legendary milongas in the City of Buenos Aires, Cultural Spaces and at the Art Plant

The event enables the competition of couples of dancers who aspire to qualify as representatives of the City of Buenos Aires in the Tango Buenos Aires Festival and World Cup 2024 . This competition is added to the different Official Preliminaries that take place around the world.


The competition will be in the categories Tango de Pista, Milongueros del Mundo, Milonga, Waltz and will take place in three defining stages: Qualifying Rounds from May 8 to 16, Semifinals on Saturday the 18th and the Grand Final on Sunday, May 19 at the Art Factory.

The opening event will take place on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m., at the Usina del Arte, and will feature the exhibition of Jonny Carvajal and Suyay Quiroga , city track tango champions and world track tango champions 2023 It will be free access until capacity is exhausted. Entry to the room will be from 5:00 p.m.

Both at the Usina del Arte, as well as at the Julián Centeya Cultural Space and Carlos Gardel Cultural Space, tickets will be free.

In the milongas of the City circuit, the entrance fee must be paid according to what is stipulated for each milonga. The semi-finals and final require prior reservation.

• 10/5 - 9 pm: Track Tango, Milongueros of the World, Waltz and Milonga. The Tile (Col. Ramon L. Falcon 2750).
• 11/5 - 3 pm: Track Tango, Milongueros of the World, Waltz and Milonga. The Friulana (Navarro 3974).
• 12/5 - 9 p.m.: Tango de Pista, Milongueros del Mundo, Waltz and Milonga. El Milongón (Maipú 365).
• 5/14 - 6 p.m.: Tango de Pista, Milongueros del Mundo, Waltz and Milonga. Julián Centeya Cultural Space (Av. San Juan 3255) with free entry
• 5/15 - 5 p.m.: Tango de Pista, Waltz and Milonga. Carlos Gardel Cultural Space (Olleros 3640) with free entry
• 5/16 - 4pm: Track Tango, Milongueros of the World and Milonga. Damn Milonga (Peru 571).

Semifinals:

• 5/18 - 4pm: All categories. Art Factory (Agustín Caffarena 1), free admission with prior reservation.

Grand finale:

• 5/19 - 6 pm: All categories. Art Factory (Agustín Caffarena 1), free admission with prior reservation.
