The senators will request a special session this Monday to discuss an initiative by José Mayans. The President would earn $4 million and no one could beat him. Includes the authorities of state companies and the judges of the Supreme Court

The vote in the Senate of the Nation that established a pocket allowance of 4.2 million pesos for the members of the Upper House generated a new disagreement between the ruling party and the opposition.

Although all the senators voted in favor , as explained by the head of the Chamber and vice president of the Nation Victoria Villarruel, the decision generated a quick and virulent response from President Javier Milei , who once again described the members of the Senate as “rats”. Congress, and a back and forth between the legislators of La Libertad Avanza and the PRO who deny support for the measure and will present draft resolutions to reverse it.

From this, Kirchnerism decided to advance in a measure that, it assures, has the support of LLA and the PRO for its treatment. On Monday he will request a special session to debate a project by José Mayans that establishes that the President of the Nation must have a salary established at 20 minimum vital and mobile salaries. This will be the maximum that will apply to the members of the three powers of the State, extra-power bodies, decentralized bodies of the National Public Administration and State companies and companies.

The minimum wage today is 202,800 pesos , so the salary of the President of the Nation would be established at 4,056,000 pesos.

In relation to those who serve as higher and hierarchical authorities such as: ministers, secretaries, undersecretaries and equivalent positions of the National Executive Branch, officials and hierarchical positions of all jurisdictions and entities included in sections a), b), c), and d ) of article 8 of Law 24,156, including the National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners (INSSJP), the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic , the Federal Administration of Public Revenues , the magistrates and officials of the Judicial Branch of the Nation , of the Public Ministry of Defense , of the Public Prosecutor's Office and of the Legislative Branch , their remunerations may not exceed 15 Minimum, Living and Mobile Salaries, for all concepts

Starting with Secretaries of State, it drops to 10 MVM salaries and for Executive Directors of State Companies and Companies - YPF for example - 9 minimum salaries.

According to Peronist sources , in the last meeting of Parliamentary Labor, the K block obtained the commitment of the LLA, the UCR and the PRO to discuss the project . “We are going to request the special session because we have the commitment of the ruling party and those who accompany the ruling party to discuss the project,” they explained.

If the project advances, it would not only imply that the President of the Nation would have his salary set, but it would also impact a sector where salaries are not discussed: the Supreme Court of Justice . The judges of the highest court would receive a salary of just over $3 million , since on the scale they would be left with 15 Minimum Living and Mobile Salaries.

With this Mayans project that is supported by senators María Teresa González (Formosa) and María Carolina Moises (Jujuy), Kirchnerism seeks to put itself at the forefront of the discussion of the diets of national State officials, especially those who have a position linked to politics and, in some way, seeks to break Milei's speech regarding caste and the costs of politics.

Meanwhile, President Milei continues to use social networks to attack legislators for the decision made by the Senate of the Nation that raised the diet to more than $7 million gross, which would leave an out-of-pocket salary of $4 million.
