Visas How complicated is it to obtain residency in Argentina?

When my partner and I had our interview with Migraciones, the interviewer also complained to us about being on a contract instead of a permanent position, among other things. I suppose that's one of the reasons why they work the way they work? Dunno.
One thing about Argentines is they LOVE to complain. I've been to over 600 cities in 85 countries and I don't think I hear as much complaining about things vs. here.

I think much just depends on the person you are getting and the mood they are in for that day. One set of documents that might work one day won't with the SAME person the next day. These employees for many of these agencies are terrible! People hate working in Argentina. Many of these documents and procedures are just idiotic in migraciones.
Correct. Even if they had a set of rules to follow it would depend on the mood of the employee that day. Terrible!

Seems like it's very contagious as evident by all the complaining by the expats who have been exposured to them here. 🙂
I think Argentina does that to a person. So much so that it is a national pastime. It look me a few years to adjust to the new reality of things not being very efficient here. Some people can't take it and end up going back to their home countries.

Understand your reasons for not wanting to pay but this goes back to what I mentioned, that probably most of the people that want second passports are criminals or breaking the law. Not paying the IRS is a crime. No judgments but you made my point about the 2nd passport issue.
taxes in the US Empire are a) unconstitutional, b) contribute to babies and women being bombed/slaughtered in myriad countries, and c) retarded to try to tax people for income abroad.

you can lick all the boots you want, and worship a tyrannical State because you've never questioned the propaganda you were raised with, and you're free to pay as many extra taxes as you want...but leave me out of it. the entire American Revolution was based on taxation without representation; i'm not being represented, so i will disobey civilly and do whatever i can to stop the war machine.

since you're so worried about the military industrial complex's revenue, make sure you report the new Pope for tax evasion, since it's unlikely he's paying taxes on his Vatincan income:

tell the IRS to f*ck off, on my behalf. would you also get in line and follow the law if it said people could only have one child, like in China?

you have the mind of an insect if you think something legal is at all related to whether it's moral or logical. there's something in criminal justice called malum en se versus malum prohibitum - ever considered that aspect before? you write as if you've never heard the other 'side' of the argument, and it's hilarious that you're doing so in an Argentine expat forum, where this entire country evades taxes as much as possible 😗

for all other non-boot-lickers, the above SchiffSovereign article is a great read, and discusses the 'rules for thee, but not for me' aspect of the 0.1% political elites in the USA.

Not paying the IRS is a crime. No judgments but you made my point about the 2nd passport issue.
Gandhi was committing "crimes" as was MLK Junior. and no, you made no points and are repeating a stupid talking point that would fit-in well on Fox or CNN; if you think i'm looking to renounce my US citizenship because i'm a "criminal" then there are no non-criminals in the world. you should really educate yourself on the moralty of overseas taxation, and why thousands of US citizens give-up their passports every year. or you're going to just keep sounding like a moron.
I have not read any of those websites that you mentioned and I don't want to appear arrogant. I was just stating an opinion that seems to be correct in this case.
'i made a moral judgement about someone i know nothing about, and now i feel justified for being an arrogant prick who is completely wrong about the entire topic and hasn't had the deceny to read 5 minutes about the political stances of people like Ron Paul who have made this argument since the 1970s.'

nah, you're just unfortunately another NPC repeating the empire's lies, distributed by the TV Man. sadly, you are unlikely to read anything that challenges your viewpoints or put yourself in someone else's shoes. it would be hard to do, from your high horse over there.

sincerely,

I think tax dodgers like you have no care about women and children being bombed. If it wasn't one thing it may be another. No one likes paying taxes but it is a necessity or all society will break down.

I don't know about anything else but the USA works for the most part because of the taxes there. When my sisters kid fell from the tree house, she called 911 and an ambulance got there immediately. Same as the fire truck and police. She broke her leg and got taken to the hospital. The roads were perfect. All of that is paid by taxes.

I know there are a lot of taxes but we need to change tax reform not just argue for not paying any taxes. That is wrong too.

I agree with all of this. I have suffered through the anti-tax argument enough times in my life to know it's like talking to a wall.

I've paid mega taxes all my life. And not just in one country but multiple countries as I have permanent residency and own properties and rent them out in multiple countries. No one likes paying taxes. No one. But to say "taxes are unconstitutional" and just not expect to pay any I don't agree with. Granted no one likes pay taxes or seeing countries abuse their taxpayers which happens many times but society as a whole would breakdown if no one paid any taxes.

I've always said that I'd much rather make lots of money and pay lots of taxes vs. make no or little money and pay no taxes. Not a winning proposition IMHO.

That's the funny thing Mike. Every anti-tax proponent I've met had a small tax bill. Even the total they'd accumulated in unpaid taxes and fines was less than I pay each year. It's hard to comprehend all the trouble they're willing to endure over such a small amount. And they seemed to have no trouble collecting social security and medicare benefits, or rolling up to hospitals without insurance like it was an inalienable right.

Yes you evade taxes and you will get deported soon. My cousin is on the case. He go to Spain for holiday but back next month and will start case. He already send his team to find research on all Americans buy in Mendoza. I feel sorry for you.

That is thing I don't understand. How much tax can it really be to just do things honest. Property in Mendoza NOT expensive like CABA. Taxes are not high. Here in CABA we pay small impuesto de sellos. I don't know rate but when I bought my flat many years ago it less than 1.5% of value. Yes I declare 100% value. I don't like break law.

I don't understand why someone brag about break laws in country they guest in. I see other posts by him saying he cheat taxes in his country too and why he leave USA. How can anyone support people break laws. If you want to break laws in your own country ok. But why you need to come to my country and not only break law but encourage other to also and brag about it. Then call us commies!

I like many of your posts but don't understand your logic. You seriously have a chance of getting deported for committing a crime and cheating on taxes. I hate taxes but some of your posts are coming across as over the top. I would assume if you get deported back to the USA Bullrich could use your case to make waves. If you get doxed USA media will pick it up too. Doubt you won't end up with problems with the IRS. They do not mess around.

I agree with all of this. I have suffered through the anti-tax argument enough times in my life to know it's like talking to a wall.
I have the same argument with friends. The funny thing Craig is most of them that fight tooth and nail to evade taxes don't make much money to begin with!

I know we have talked about this many times. When I bought my property in BA I was so paranoid about declaring the full amount. Even many years ago when I first bought in BA I had the full price declared and this was back in 2006. There was no capital gains tax. I can't remember if there was a stamp tax or not but I paid about $50,000 for my place!

Never understood the argument of someone expecting to pay $0 in taxes.

I just mentioned this before seeing your post! Same experience. The people I have argued with are not people that have big legal bills. In fact, most of us know how to shelter or delay or defer taxes. The people that are so adamant about not paying taxes have almost no tax exposure. So much wasted time and effort all to pay a small tax bill. And the penalties and interests. Yet they will be the first to collect benefits when they are eligible.

That really irks me.

@StatusNomadicus I admire your adventure to move to Argentina. Maybe not for the right reasons if it was just to evade taxes. I haven't read all your posts. But do you even have much tax exposure? Are you employed? I believe you said you have rental income. Or maybe that was your spouse?

Very true!! The internet is full of charlatans and tax cheats. And most of them don't make any money! Look at this poster on X. Unemployed and pitching penny stocks. Came to BA when it was cheap and now complaining that Australia is cheaper. Pitching subscriptions to his penny stocks and day trading. And pitching how to evade taxes.

Someone that makes no money and unemployed acting like he needs to dodge taxes. This is the type you are talking about @CraigM A total joke!

I know! Same here. It is comical. There are all kind of people on X and online that don't use their own names, don't use their faces, hide behind anonymous identities. All in the quest not to pay taxes. The thing is that you simply can't scale or get big or make a lot of money without paying taxes. In BA we were the largest buyer of real estate and probably are again now. We paid rental taxes, income taxes, I hired all my employees in white. In cost me a fortune! But I knew that no way I'd ever get acquired by a multi-national company operating in black.

I kind of think the same thing in life. You can either be small time or big time. Most of the people evading taxes definitely are the first that will get their benefits. So kind of hypocrites. Yes the USA wastes a lot of money but look at reality, most of us are paying the bulk of the taxes! Many Americans pay absolutely no taxes at all. Zero besides Medicare and social security which you have to pay in but even that is capped.

A lot of complaining about taxes but from my experience, the biggest complainers have VERY little tax exposer. It's guys like us that are paying the lion's share. I'd rather vs. them complain just say, "thank you". I have this argument with my friends all the time. I live in California which is one of THE most expensive and highest taxed states in the USA. But you know what? It's worth it to me because my kids go to amazing public schools. I'm planning on moving back to Buenos Aires next year and will have to enroll my kids in private schools there. The elite schools are like $33,000 + USD per year for high school and even my elementary school daughter I'm looking at $30,000 USD per year. So that is like $60,000+ for 2 kids per year.

Taxes are not fun but it's not like you get nothing out of it. I always say Love the USA or leave it. Still the best place on Earth.

You know this is the same conversation my sister's husband makes. People always talk negatively because he lives in California. My sister lives in Santa Barbara where taxes are very high. I think they pay about $50,000 dollars a year in property taxes alone. Not counting income taxes. Most of his friends have moved to other places like Texas or Florida but many are now thinking of coming back. He always jokes where are people going to go to find the lifestyle and weather? I personally could not afford it but every year when I visit my sister I dream of winning the lottery so I could move there.

I guess if you can afford to live there it seems like paradise. Most of her neighborhood is from people all over the world looking for a slice of paradise.

Very true usually the first in line to get benefits are the people complaining the most about taxes.

I think Americans forget about all the people that just dream of coming to America. I think Americans are spoiled. My grandparents talk about communist China and the repression. They are thankful they immigrated to the USA and always taught me how wonderful of a country it is. I took it for granted but reading all of these posts make me realize how lucky I am to be American and can live here. Even as I plan to buy a place in BA and possibly live there I realize how lucky I am. My grandparents were correct.

Oh my goodness, the penny stock selfie guy! Now pretending to dodge taxes.

Oh my goodness, the penny stock selfie guy! Now pretending to dodge taxes.
This guy again! 🤣🤣 The funny thing is he tries to pitch these penny stocks and charge people for the advice! Some people have no shame. At least he finally found a job. It looks like some company hired him. His posts on X talked about quitting and leaving Argentina and doing your own thing. Now it looks like he is working for an Australian company again! Probably for pennies on the Australian dollar what he would make home. I don't get some of these people.

All to try to get out on paying taxes. It is all a scheme. Posts to try to charge to day trade penny stocks. Try to get subscriptions. Then go to Paraguay to try to get paid referral fees to dodge taxes. Always the same with these people. Find an honest job and pay your fair share!
