Western Union

I should have sent more last week. Rate just went down to 1,421.55. Big jump down. I wonder if it will go back up after this initial jump up from the election.
Give it a week. My guess is the rate will go back up. Argentina still has a lot of debt to pay and same issues. Granted Milei has a shot now of getting through some of his proposals but still many problems and debt to deal with.

Long term dollars over pesos. Billions and billions due over the next year and the government still can't accumulate much reserves. They already have austerity measures in place and not much more they can cut. In fact probably have to start spending more. Only so much you can borrow. Actually thought thought the peso would strengthen more and it seems like it's weakening throughout the day.

It's Argentina so next week it could be back above 1500. Anyones guess.

Blue and crypto dollar are paring its loss from 10% at its peak to about 5%. Remember there is still 30% annual inflation. That is massive all things considered.

Blue dollar is back up to 1500. Doubt you can keep it down. USD is back up. Good election or not many problems here to deal with and a lot of debt payments coming up. Same problems exist.

You don't even have to wait until "next week". Today it's already back over 1500. That didn't last long. I wonder what the WU rate will be by the end of this week. Peso feels overvalued still and the market is saying the same thing.

Anyone know when WU updates their rates. I sent myself a payment today and still only got 1421.

WU rate is back up above 1500. Just got 1,503.55 this morning. Does anyone know if there is a way to send USD via Western Union and pick up USD? I don't think it's possible but wanted to ask.

The rate has gone up. It says the normal rate to send $1,000 USD down it $61.99 and I got a discounted rate of $24 which is still about 2.4% but then I have to buy dollars again and losing out on exchange rate so it is costing 5%. I know I can go to Uruguay but that takes too long and adds up.

I guess cueva is the dependable way? What are going rates right now to use a cueva? Anyone have one that they can recommend?

WU doesn't deal with dollars to pick up. I was wondering about this too. I used @BuySellBA's contact on my last trip. Paid 2.5% and wired to a US bank and went downtown to a big office to pick up dollars. I had to pay my apartment rental extension in dollars and it came in handy. They also allowed me to get some pesos too at the blue rate. Very easy. I wired and the funds were ready the same day. They had an office en La Lucila too.

@Bingo how did you get the rate to go down from $62 to $24? I noticed while trying to send a WU payment the other day the fee jumped up much higher to what I usually pay. Did you use a discount code?

This would be great! @Blockchain I sent you a DM. I would love this contact. A bit annoying when people won't take pesos at the blue rate and demand USD but that is a fact of life here. Thanks.

I always laugh when I hear people go all the way to Montevideo just to get USD. I guess if you are going to go there anyway but a slow and expensive way to get dollars here. Just use a trusted cueva. I noticed WU fees creeping up too lately.

It is difficult to live long term in BA without having a good cueva.
