the reality is cabs are for rich people that like to brag about age and pay alot. you can’t tell me you can taste the difference between 10,000 and 200 dollar cabs. i spent alot of time on a sailboat 104 ft long with a 134 mast and the owner, use to own searay boat and sold it, drank pinots. max per bottle 100.00. he wasnt a somlier but would not hesitate to pour out a 50.00 bottle of questionable wine. the boat went around the world and i was invited to join at different times. i dated his daughter. most of our time was in the caribe. pinots are big fruit and smooth and finish well. no headache the next day. usually 14 % by volume. most at 12.5. big difference. my price to enter the boat was 2,000.00 of good wine. price has little to do with it.

That sounds like a fun adventure! Agree the price of wine doesn't always dictate if it is better than affordable wines.

I am not a big wine drinker. I always get a headache drinking red wine. Interesting that some give you headaches and some no. What causes the headaches @jbeas176?

i think its the sulfites. added for taste. catena vineyards are a guarantee. they make good wines across the price range. i drink alamos in the US and animal in argentina. can’t miss on the malbecs and chardenays. try it and let me know. i am a pretty good resource for well priced wines. alamos is available in buenos aires. i think its 5 dollars a bottle. animal is 10.00

i was involved with a group of women ( 7 ) for blind tasting. always pinots. heldsburg is the region in napa. the only thing that can throw you off is the smell. sometimes it just needs to open up. the legs on the glass, while slurping on the front of the tougue, and the swallow won’t change or disguise the taste.

I am amazed at the cheap prices of some Argentine wines in the US. I often wonder how they make money. It was crazy I saw a bottle of wine in Dallas for less than the cost in Buenos Aires. I'm not sure how that works.

Agree about Alamos. My better half thinks that is the best quality for the money. I will have to try Animal. Is that the brand name @jbeas176?

Is it good? Wow that is very cheap! When I went out to dinner several times we had fairly expensive bottles of wine at a few places. When I looked they were Argentine wines and I was surprised. They must have marked it up a lot in the restaurants.

they always mark it up in restaurants. animal is the lable name, catena is the vineyard. try the chard with the same name. i think its held in stainless still barrels. exstremely clean
