In my opinion, one of the main reasons why meat is so expensive in Argentina is the amount of taxes and costs throughout the entire supply chain.
From the farm to the butcher shop, everything carries added costs, expensive transportation, and an unstable economy that keeps pushing prices up.
If tax pressure isn’t reduced and the economy isn’t stabilized, it’s hard to see meat becoming affordable again for everyone. A tax reform should be addressed urgently. Meanwhile, the focus often seems to be on other discussions, like the glacier law, when for everyday people the real urgent issue is the cost of living.
