President Javier Milei celebrated the half-sanction that the Bases project received in the Chamber of Deputies and congratulated the deputies who, as he considered, “understood the historic moment” in which they had to vote in favor. Furthermore, he stressed that today was “a first step to get Argentina out of the swamp.”

“The Chamber of Deputies of the Nation has just approved the half-sanction of the entire law Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines. This is a fundamental first step to get Argentina out of the quagmire that has been the last few decades. I want to thank the enormous task of all the deputies who, understanding the historical moment, decided to accompany our project ," the president highlighted on his social networks.

In that sense, he announced that the half sanction represents a “first step, we are getting closer to being able to meet on May 25 in La Docta, Córdoba, to begin a new era of prosperity for Argentina. As General San Martín said: 'Let's be free, the rest doesn't matter at all.'”

In parallel, the Office of the President published a statement in which they expressed: “Javier Milei celebrates the half-sanction of the Law Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines obtained in the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, and recognizes the patriotic work of the National Deputies who collaborated in its preparation, defended the norm in the chamber, and supported with their vote the reforms that our country needs. Especially to the heads of their respective blocks, Cristian Ritondo , Miguel Ángel Pichetto and Rodrigo de Loredo , who have put aside all partisan differences in favor of the Nation."

“The Argentine people require representatives willing to end the privileges of the caste and the corporate republic, in pursuit of the future and development of the Homeland. The regency of the protectors of the status quo ended on December 10. It is time for those willing to put their bodies to reinsert ourselves on the path of greatness that one day led us to be a prosperous country,” he added.

Furthermore, they expressed: "Argentines who live from their work, those who dedicate their efforts to study and progress, who long for a promising future for their descendants and future generations, await with expectation that the greatness seen today in the premises of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies be reproduced promptly in the Senate of the Nation. The representatives of the provinces now have the historical responsibility of establishing a true federal regime that returns dignity and freedom to their people, once again guiding the country towards the path of prosperity that will lead to the resurgence of the Argentine Republic as a world power.

The second version of the Bases bill obtained general approval in the Chamber of Deputies minutes before 9 in the morning with 142 affirmative votes (106 against), thanks to the majority support of the dialogue blocks ( PRO, UCR, Hacemos , Federal Innovation and MPN ). This is the first relevant victory that Javier Milei 's government achieves in the National Congress, 147 days after coming to power.

Minutes after 2 p.m., a brief intermission was called after 24 hours of uninterrupted session, and there is expectation for the discussion in particular of the fiscal package: Profits, Personal Assets and money laundering. The Base Law in general was rejected by the UxP, FIT, socialist blocs and Natalia de la Sota from Córdoba. The dissident radicals Facundo Manes, Fernando Carbajal, Marcela Coli and Pablo Juliano abstained , as did Mónica Frade of the CC. A curiosity at the time of the vote was the presence of Marcela Pagano , who had not been at the beginning of the session to provide a quorum due to health problems (triggered by a peak of stress due to internal discussions of the libertarian bloc).
