Is crime getting worse? Is safety getting more complicated during this recession?

I thought I'd post my question here. My friend just got mugged and robbed of her iPhone last night in Balvanera. It got me thinking. What are the most dangerous neighborhoods of Buenos Aires?

I know Balvanera is probably up there. Stay safe out there.

Balvanera especially at night can be a bit dicey. For many people these would be the top most "dangerous" areas.

10. Villa Lugano / Bajo Flores

Thanks for posting these. I like San Telmo during the day but after the sun goes down it feels sketchy. I heard to also stay away from anywhere near Villa 31 near Retiro, Once, and Villa 1-11 which I think is near Baja Fores.

I went to go eat near Baja Flores and there are a lot of Peruvians there. Saw some shady people after dinner. I stuck out like a soar thumb and high tailed it out of there. The Uber told me to be careful around there.
