Anyone have any recommendations for prescription eye glasses in Buenos Aires? I broke my other ones and lost my back up. And what is the going rate for them? Thanks.

Varilux lenses are very good but just keep in mind the newest models are much more expensive here vs. the US. I wait until I go home to get some new ones and they are at least half the price or sometimes 1/3 the price of BA.

Thanks for the great advice. I went to the Galeria del Optico last week and there was a huge selection! Over 55 vendors on two floors was quite interesting to see. I didn't have time to visit all of them. But I got a quote of about $310 for lens replacements for my glasses. This was a bit more than the price quoted for new glasses at a few different opticians I went to.

Online it said it would only take a few hours but they told me in typical Argy fashion that it would take at least a week. One vendor told me he would send me a Whatsapp if he could do it quicker. I gave him my Whatsapp and no surprise he never contacted me. (Why are local vendors to terrible and slow)?

If any of you have Swiss Medical there is a 50% discount on lens replacement at + Vision locations and up to 20% off at other places.
Also, if you have Swiss Medical note that you can prepay for 6 months and they will give you a 10% discount. You have to ask for it. One of my neighbors told me about that when I was bitching about how expensive it is.

Many places will give you a discount if you ask or especially if you threaten to cancel the service. For example, the price gets locked in on my Personal internet and cable for 12 months. But like clockwork they jack the price up after that 12 months. So I have to call to cancel my internet and cable to get the price back down. Many times they will give me even a lower price than what I paid but you have to threaten to cancel a few times. They will try to talk you out of it and as a last ditch effort they are authorized to reduce the price to keep you as a client. You have to do this with all your stuff.
