The holidays are approaching, and the trend of relaxing in country houses, chalets, or private neighborhoods is growing among young families and groups of friends.

With the arrival of summer, renting houses by the day in areas near Buenos Aires is once again becoming an increasingly popular option. Within 50 kilometers of the city , various destinations offer properties that combine green spaces, relaxation, and convenience, ideal for both short getaways and longer stays.

In that scenario, the values vary according to the location, the type of property and the services included, but they allow us to draw a clear map of how much it costs today to rent a summer house without going too far from the City .

Daily rentals in the northern area

In towns like Pilar, Tigre, Ingeniero Maschwitz, Escobar, and Capilla del Señor, located within a 50-kilometer radius north of the capital, you can find country houses and chalets with pools, as well as simpler cabins . A basic property, without frills but with a garden and space to relax, can be rented for around $40,000 per day. These options are often chosen by small families or couples looking for a short getaway, with the option of cooking at home and enjoying a natural setting without spending too much.

In the mid-range are houses with pools, grills, and capacity for groups of six to eight people . Daily rates there range from $65,000 to $120,000 , depending on proximity to urban centers and the quality of the facilities. For example, a country house in Capilla del Señor is offered at $460,000 per week, which is equivalent to about $65,000 per day. In Tigre, where riverside houses are especially popular, prices can exceed $100,000 per day, particularly if they include a private dock and access to water sports.

The premium segment , on the other hand, is characterized by properties in gated communities in Pilar or Tigre , with 24-hour security, spacious grounds, heated pools, and additional amenities such as tennis courts or access to sports clubs. In these cases, daily rates can exceed $200,000 and even reach $700,000, especially during peak season. These are homes that offer an experience akin to luxury hotels, but with the privacy of a private residence.

Price variations also reflect seasonality. During the summer months, demand skyrockets and prices tend to rise, while in autumn or winter, more affordable rates can be found . Furthermore, the length of stay plays a role: many owners prefer to rent by the week or fortnight, and in those cases, the daily rate can be more convenient than for one- or two-day rentals.

When inquiring about renting a house in a gated community, you should ask about the rental period because most gated communities do not allow rentals for less than one month.

Another key factor is the area's infrastructure. Pilar, for example, combines gated communities with shopping centers, restaurants, and sports clubs, making it an attractive destination for those seeking comfort and amenities . Tigre, meanwhile, offers the chance to experience the Delta, with waterfront homes perfect for kayaking or wakeboarding. Ingeniero Maschwitz and Escobar, for their part, stand out for their more bohemian and artistic offerings, with rustic-style homes surrounded by greenery.

Spend a few days in the southern area

In the southern region, towns like San Vicente, Cañuelas, and Brandsen have become popular destinations for those seeking a peaceful rural getaway with convenient access to country homes . These areas offer a wide variety of country houses and cottages with spacious lots, grills, and swimming pools, ideal for families. Daily rates are generally more affordable than in the north : options range from $35,000 to $60,000 per day for simple houses, while properties with large pools and wooded grounds can exceed $100,000 per day during peak season. San Vicente, for example, has become a hub for country estates and weekend homes, with rentals averaging around $70,000 per day for accommodations that can sleep up to eight people.

Brandsen and Cañuelas, meanwhile, offer a more rural and relaxed atmosphere , with country estates that include horses, vegetable gardens, and recreational spaces. Daily rates there range from $40,000 to $90,000, depending on the amenities. These areas attract those seeking to disconnect from the urban pace and enjoy a more authentic environment, with the opportunity to participate in rural activities.

The “near west”

Towns like Moreno, General Rodríguez, and Luján have also become popular summer destinations. In gated communities in Luján, houses with pools and 24-hour security rent for between $80,000 and $150,000 per day. In General Rodríguez, where country homes with large gardens abound, prices can be more competitive: from $50,000 per day for basic properties to $120,000 for houses with full amenities. Moreno, due to its proximity and variety of gated communities, offers similar options, with prices ranging from $60,000 to $130,000 per day.

The difference between north, south, and west lies in the profile of each area. While the north has the highest concentration of gated communities and premium offerings , the south is known for its rural character and more affordable prices, and the west combines traditional country estates with modern developments, offering a balance between nature and amenities.

In conclusion, the price of renting a summer house per day within 50 kilometers of Buenos Aires varies depending on the area: from $35,000 for simple country houses in the south to over $200,000 for premium houses in the north , with a range in between in the west. This diversity allows each family or group to find the option that best suits their budget and style of vacation, whether they prefer a riverside retreat, countryside getaway, or a gated community with all the amenities.

Am I reading this correctly - you can rent a premium home with all those amenities in the high season for 200,000 a day or about US$135?

Yes that is correct but keep in mind some at that price point are very simple no frills. The bigger and more luxurious the more expensive but most of these homes at least have a parilla to have an asado and grill out. I have been to many asados on the weekends at friends houses or ones they have rented like this article mentions.

Huh, it says "premium segment" in gated communities with all sorts of amenities. The mid and lower end segments were even cheaper.

There are many wealthy locals that own 1, 2 or 3+ properties. I didn't realize they charged such cheap rates but you can see on Airbnb for some of these areas. That may not sound like too much but I guess if they can make a few hundred bucks per weekend it might be worth it to them. The median monthly wage is still very very low in Argentina.
