Expat Life: Local Discoveries, Global Connections

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

But how much of a problem could that have been? Again sounds like someone is pulling a fast one on you. But in a nutshell that is all of Argentina.
Unfortunately true. The longer I am here the longer I am seeing that scams are plentiful here. Difficult to find honest people. Seems like everyone wants to charge the gringo tax.

From being in the middle of it for the past three and a half years, including working locally at one point... It's far, far more anti-Milei than it was at this point last year. People are getting fed up and I'm seeing far, far more folks going through the trash container across the street this month than I have at any point in the past year.

It's not looking great for LLA, imo.
I also notice more locals going through trash bins and more people sleeping in the street. Even in nice neighborhoods like Recoleta there are mattresses all over at night and now even during the day they aren't moving. Have not seen this before.

Sad to see you move out of BA Darksider. Seems to tell the story if you moved out of BA after seeing your posts for a few years. Seeing the same thing with others.

I would ask Piranha, only one who called it correctly in this forum. Everyone else said Milei was going to lose.
Missed this post before. Thanks Craig. I don't remember too many besides Larry saying that Milei would lose. Only that many were not happy and the local election was not looking good with a big loss.
Milei's 14 point loss in the Bs As provinical election early September made many , including myself, think that there was no way he would win more than a few seats in the mid term elections.
A couple of friends who are party members actually said to me that the best result they could hope for was to lose by only a few points.
Obviously something happened in the last two weeks to change things.
I really dont think it was Trumps intervention - in fact I know that annoyed quite a few people.
When people saw the possibility of the return of CFKs cronies and the Campora , I think they decided it was worth giving Milei another couple of years to try and sort the mes out
People were thinking worst case and very negative but for as many people that hate Milei they like seeing the price at the stores relatively stable. Many anti K crowd that hated Cristina and never wanted to see her in power again. But those same people are figuring out that they did better personally under Cristina and Alberto and socialists that destroyed Argentina. They were willing to take it in the ass to see Argentina improve but now they are taking it too much in the ass and COL has gone up.

I agree with John's take that they were willing to give him a few more years.

Besides the hoodlums that were blocking streets no one likes that and good to see that go away. Inflation went down and salaries went up or at least keeping up with inflation. If that goes away then so does his support.

Good luck @Darksider415. Did not know you moved out of BA. It seems like many have left.

There has always been homeless and people going through the garbage but agree it has gotten worse.

What is going on? Is there some strike? I was walking in Recoleta today and surprised to see so much trash everywhere. Looks like no one is picking it up. It's not wonder people are complaining about rats.

Where was that taken? That isn't a normal city dumpster. This is more the work of homeless going through trash from city dumpsters. That is a construction dumpster when they are doing some renovation and it looks like homeless took out trash from nearby city trash bins and threw it into a construction dumpster. Not nice to see.
