What’s your take on overstaying in Argentina these days?

Yes going the rentista route. Since I don't have passive income I'm using proceeds from the sale of my home to fund it, it won't be so straightforward.

I'm using the same lawyer(Paula Carello) from someone in the old forum who just recently had success

And will keep ya posted on how it goes.
Oh can you use the sale of a property? I thought it had to be passive income? Or did you set up an investment where it pays over $2,000 a month? I heard of that option too.

The system used to be good; what changed is the current government’s generosity (or lack thereof). The new procedures, similar to those in the U.S., are aimed at people from neighboring countries who enter the country illegally through border crossings, bypassing all legal channels.
But I don't think it is just the neighboring countries they are worried about. This seems to be something they want to do to strengthen Argentina to prevent hordes of people or immigration in the future.

I think it depends on how it's structured. I've heard some using trusts, LLCs, etc. Ask 10 different lawyers and they'll give you 10 different answers.

Yes that is what I hear is it just depends. I wonder @FuturoBA if the change with Milei will make any of these things more difficult.Keep us posted please on your update and how it goes. I would potentially use the sale of my place also. I heard that you can set up a Trust or LLC that pays out dividends that will cover you. It will be interesting to hear how it turns out. Thanks for sharing. How is BA? What is the mood on the street?

my wife was colombian with a ten year visa. before we married after 18 years because to get a visa renewal it took 1.5 years to get an appointment at the embassy. when she was detained i got a lawyer to get her a redress number from nsa that took the decision out of immigration hands. she now has a green card
