What’s your take on overstaying in Argentina these days?

It seems like Migraciones is getting stricter, especially with people who repeatedly overstay and basically live here on tourist visas instead of getting residency. But at the same time, I keep hearing that a one-time overstay (paying the fine and leaving) isn’t usually a big issue.

Do you think things have actually changed recently, or is it mostly the same as before?

Curious to hear real experiences, especially when it comes to leaving and then coming back later.

I have friends who do it regularly and they’ve started getting more questions at immigration… I think as long as you don’t abuse it, you’re fine.
There are several posts about this on the forum:

Go home or get legal. Stop breaking the laws.

The actual immigration laws are now being applied - I cant see why people are upset.

If a foreigner tries something similar in the USA , deportation is totally normal.
Exactly. This is just the law like in almost any other country in the world. People shouldn't be surprised. Many of us did it the right way. I think it is still generous. The only thing I hear is that they aren't processing anything anymore.
