Very high electricity bill all of a sudden?

my electric bill was 286.00 for january. i was ther during jan with my colombian wife. its a 1 bedroom apt. she cleans all the time. granted i have a washer/dryer, dishwasher and a/c. i have owned the apt for 20 plus years and have used all my gringo appliances. never over 100.00

You bill was $286 dollars for January? or are you saying 286,000 pesos? My bill was almost $200 bucks. Highest bill ever. How big is your place @jbeas176? Just seems like it's impossible to escape larger bills in the summer here.

Has anyone else noticed high utility bills? My electricity bill has jumped up. It is for 2 months worth of usage but I was shocked to see it was 625,000 pesos which is over $450 dollars! I have never had a bill this high before. My apartment is a 3 bedroom apartment that is about 150 m2. Did the rate go up?

A lot of locals complaining about rates going up. It seems like it's tiered so the more you use the higher rate per kwh. Rates sounded absolutely cheap before but now it seems comparable to many States in the USA now.

Electricity is actually cheap in CABA compared to the rest of Argentina. Some provinces are really much more than CABA. Some over double. Look at this bill from Cordoba.

Wow and I thought my electricity prices in Buenos Aires were expensive. That is over double the price that we pay in BA for kwh.
