The picketers will join tomorrow's march (Conadu)
Tomorrow, starting at 3 p.m., the picketing and popular economy organizations will march throughout the country alongside the public universities due to the critical situation that many of the higher education institutions are going through and to urgently demand that salaries be updated due to inflation, salaries and the budget allocated for the academic training of students. The protest, which promises to be massive, will have different meeting points, depending on the jurisdiction.

The main slogan is “ in defense of public education ” and to reject the budget adjustment imposed by the Government of Javier Milei that directly impacts the higher education system.

Piquetero schedule

All the picket organizations, from the Polo Obrero, through the MST-Teresa Vive, to the Front of Organizations in Struggle and Free of the South, among others, will begin to gather from 1:00 p.m. around the National Congress, at the intersection from Hipólito Yrigoyen and Entre Ríos avenues. At that time the Polo Obrero will make an open radio broadcast to disseminate the reasons for the measure and the lack of food in the community kitchens.

The rest will begin to gather between 3 and 3:30 p.m. The picketers will be joined by the social movements that make up the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy UTEP), including the Evita Movement, Somos Barrios de Pie, the Darío Santillán Popular Front, the Movement of Excluded Workers and the Classist and Combative Current (CCC).

Teachers and picketers will gather tomorrow from 3 p.m. in front of Congress at 3 p.m. and from there they will march to Plaza de Mayo (Maximiliano Luna)

“Despite Milei's threats, the national university march is unstoppable,” Juan Carlos Alderete , National Coordinator of the CCC, told Infobae . Furthermore, he rejected the opinion of the president who maintained that “the march is anachronistic” and “that the students will be forced to participate in the mobilization.” “Tomorrow it will be demonstrated that all of this is false and that the people, as a whole, are mobilized in favor of public education,” added Alderete.

Unlike the picketing and leftist organizations, which affirm that they will mobilize massively, the UTEP told this medium that they will send “delegations, representations with identification”, that is, with bibs, banners and posters that identify them. “We are going to support the teaching demand and in defense of public education, but in the popular economy there is a lot of concern with the upcoming collection of the former Potenciar Trabajo, now divided into the Back to Work and Social Accompaniment programs. Many do not know if they are going to get paid or how much they are going to get paid,” explains one of the leaders who make up the UTEP.

The social leader also detailed: “So in addition to accompanying the general protest movements , in this case public education, in the majority of the assemblies the acceleration of a concrete plan of struggle for the entry of workers is being demanded. . And not to mention that all the works of the socio-urban integration secretary have already been stopped, for the urbanization of popular neighborhoods and that was fed with the Socio-Urban Integration Fund (FISU). Because of these concerns, UTEP leaders will meet on Wednesday.

At 6 p.m., in front of the Casa Rosada, a document will be read outlining the consequences that the cuts will have on public education (Nicolás Stulberg)

The main rally will take place starting at 3:30 p.m. in front of the National Congress and from there they will march towards Plaza de Mayo where at 6 p.m. a jointly drafted document will be read in front of the Casa Rosada.

Other spaces, such as the Evita Movement and Somos Barrios de Pie, will gather from 2:30 p.m. in Rivadavia and Montevideo, from there they will mobilize to Congress to march with the rest to Plaza de Mayo.

Although the measure was announced previously, there is great expectation among the organizers for the decision that will be made by the Ministry of National Security, headed by Patricia Bullrich . Due to the number of participants in the call, compliance with the so-called Anti-Picket Protocol will be difficult to comply with. We will have to follow very closely the empire that is taken, in previous marches, for example, the one called by the CGT in front of the Palace of Courts, the federal forces and the City Police, acted in such a way that the columns march in a fluid so that intersections are quickly cleared and cleared as quickly as possible for traffic to flow. And, then yes, force the concentration to take place in the squares, in this case first in the Congress square and then in the May square.

The picketers will march behind the teachers, students and management community of the public universities. The support of the CGT was also added, which called for mobilization throughout the country in defense of public education .

Until now, more than 70 university study houses throughout the country, belonging to the jurisdictions of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Province of Buenos Aires, Chubut, La Rioja, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Catamarca, Neuquén, Tucumán, Chaco, San Juan, San Luis, Tierra del Fuego, Santa Cruz, Río Negro, Salta Santiago del Estero, Jujuy, Formosa, Misiones, La Pampa and Corrientes.

"It's going to be a very big march because of the social impact it has, because of the importance in the defense of public education, because it hits all sectors without distinction between social classes," anticipated Monica Sulle, from the MST.

Mónica Sulle, MST leader, told Infobae : “I am convinced that tomorrow is going to be a very big march because of the social impact it has , because of the importance in the defense of public education, because it hits all sectors without difference in social classes because it leaves us without the educational budget even though they come out to say that they are going to abandon public education. “They already decided to cut the university budget.” The social leader also recalled that the measure has “international support.”

Silvia Saravia, national leader of Libres del Sur, confirmed that her social space will also march behind student and university groups such as CONADU, the National Federation of University Teachers, with whom the picketers held meetings to coordinate the measure of force.

“We are going to march because defending the Public University is strategic if we want a sovereign country from every point of view ,” she expressed when consulted by this medium and added: “For the most impoverished sectors it is the only possibility to continue training, and expand their possibility of developing a life project in better conditions. Javier Milei's aggressiveness towards everything that improves the living conditions of the majority clearly shows that his interests are those of those who want to see a people on its knees. “We are not going to allow it ,” he declared.

Eduardo Belliboni, leader of the Polo Obrero, explained to Infobae that “the design put together by the leadership of the conflict, the CONADU, the teachers and principals is that in front of the march are everything that is public education, the unions and we would come behind, the piqueteros movements and then the political parties.”

Belliboni also recalled that the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) is one of the institutions that calls for the university march and in the first days of the month " a budgetary emergency was declared ", making it one of the study houses that claims increase in the national budget, the implementation of an educational ticket and the salary increase for teachers and non-teachers.

In turn, the National Interuniversity Council (CIN), which brings together all national public universities, warned that "if actions are not taken to rectify the course" by the Government, the functioning of educational institutions will be "seriously affected." .

The Ministry of Security will have to comply with the Anti-Picket Protocol
In a document accessed by this media, the CIN maintained that it is necessary for Javier Milei's Government to take at least four main measures:

-Reasonably increase monthly operating expenses, updating them according to the inflationary process. -Update the salaries of teachers and non-teachers.

-Give continuity to current university programs aimed at investing in infrastructure works, equipment and supporting scholarship programs.

-Guarantee the budget necessary to sustain science, technology and extension activities.
