The production of The Little Mermaid , backed by the same people responsible for Matilda and School of Rock, became the blockbuster of the Buenos Aires season: with 35,000 tickets sold before the premiere, it surpassed the records of its predecessors and forced the addition of performances at the imposing Gran Rex.

Cast and production

With an original Disney libretto, the story follows Ariel, a brave little mermaid who defies her father Triton, escapes from Ursula, and seeks to win the prince over with her voice. Led by Albana Fuentes, Evelyn Botto, Osvaldo Laport, José María Listorti, Pablo Turturiello, and Valentín Zaninelli, the musical features a large-scale set and a dance troupe that evokes the nuances of the ocean.

“The current numbers are purely from local consumption, in the midst of a depressed market. However, I think with The Little Mermaid we're reaping the rewards we achieved with Matilda and School of Rock. I'm about to hold a meeting with Mariano Pagani [another producer of this large-scale triptych] to discuss a fourth title for next year,” producer Carlos Rottemberg told LA NACION.

I went to see the show with my daughters last week. They loved it and me too, it´s magical. Great weekend plan to do with kids!

Can anyone confirm if the show has subtitles or is it fully in Spanish? I'm thinking of going but my Spanish isn’t great. I´m a huge Disney fan, I really want to see it!
