The City of Buenos Aires has enabled the 2026 Student Ticket, allowing students to travel free of charge on public transportation.

Who can access the Student Ticket in CABA?

Students enrolled in:
  • Early Childhood Education (4 and 5-year-old rooms)
  • Primary Education
  • Secondary Education

This applies to public schools and private schools with 100% state subsidy.

It also includes:
  • Special education students
  • Vocational training centers
  • Low-income university students attending public, social, or privately subsidized institutions located in CABA

Which means of transport does the benefit cover?

The benefit includes free travel on:
  • Buses
  • Subte (subway)
  • Premetro

Within the AMBA region.

⚠️ It does not include trains. Trains require a separate application process.

How many daily trips are subsidized?

Up to four trips per day, only on school days, between:

5:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.

Until when is the benefit valid?

From the beginning of the school year until December 31, except during winter holidays.

How to apply for the first time

Complete the online form at:

  1. Book an appointment at a Community Center (Sede Comunal).
  2. Bring:
    • ID
    • A SUBE card registered in the student’s name
  3. After approval, activate the card at an Automatic SUBE Terminal.

How to renew (if you already had it in 2025)

No need to re-register.

Simply tap the SUBE card on an Automatic SUBE Terminal to reactivate the benefit.

Can the student SUBE be used outside school hours?

Yes — but without the subsidy.

The card can be topped up and used like a regular SUBE on weekends, holidays, or during vacations.

Can someone else use the card?

No.

The card is personal and non-transferable. Improper use may result in:
  • Suspension of the benefit
  • Possible criminal charges

How to obtain the benefit for train travel

Train benefits must be requested separately through Trenes Argentinos, either by email or in person.

There are two modalities:
  • Free school ticket (early childhood, primary, and early secondary years)
  • 50% discounted student ticket (upper secondary and non-university tertiary studies)

Documentation required for train benefit

  • Certificate of regular student status with full institutional details (signed)
  • ID with updated address
  • Train line and stations to be used
  • Class schedule
