Newcomer Starlink in Argentina

Is it fairly stable? Does it ever go down or not work? This sounds like a great set up. Were you able to set it up yourself @Oatmeal or did you have to hire someone to set it up for you? My girlfriend's parents are thinking of adding this to their country house. They have service out there but it is always going down. Going to give them your set up.
I can't think of a time the service was down. As long as you have electricity, you will be fine. Cloudy days maybe 120MB which I noticed. Easy to set up and you use the app to find a place with no obstruction. You do it yourself. Placement of the dish is up to you.

That's awesome @Oatmeal. Thanks for posting your first hand experiences with Starlink. It's really amazing technology. I have several friends using it but none of them are in CABA so great to read about your experiences with it and how stable it is. That is a great price too because internet prices keep going up now.

The province of Córdoba has already installed more than 825 Starlink antennas and Cisco technological floors in rural schools.

The objective is to reach 871 educational institutions across the entire Córdoba territory before the start of the 2025 academic year.

Key Features of the Project

Connectivity Speed: Each Starlink antenna provides 300 megabits per second of high-quality connectivity, significantly improving access to digital educational resources.

Technological Infrastructure: The installation includes not only Starlink antennas but also Cisco technological floors, which ensure stable and secure WiFi coverage throughout the school buildings and up to 20 meters around them.

Impact on Education: This project facilitates online learning, video conferencing, and access to educational platforms, bridging the gap between rural and urban educational opportunities.

Community Benefits: Beyond education, the connectivity enables local communities to access digital services, conduct remote work, and engage in online commerce, fostering economic development.

Coverage Goal: The ultimate goal is to reach all 871 rural educational institutions before the start of the 2025 school year.

Current Progress: With over 825 installations completed, the project is on track to meet its target, making it one of the largest satellite connectivity initiatives in the region.

This initiative highlights Córdoba's commitment to digital equity and educational advancement in rural areas.

Many of my friends that did not support President Milei grudgingly admit many things have drastically improved. No one misses all of the protestors blocking the street which was a weekly occurrence before. My friends in the South also LOVE the technology that has come into Argentina. It is difficult to believe that Argentina banned Starlink in the country before. Just 10 DAYS after coming into office Starlink came to Argentina. It went from nothing to over 700,000 subscriptions in less than 2 years.

You can see below the number of subscriptions in 2024 and again in 2025 for Starlink.

Incredible the growth of Starlink. This is what Peronism doesn't understand. Idiotic of Peronists like Guillermo Moreno opposing Starling's launch in Argentina. A good example of how they think. He said it was destroying cooperatives. All the local companies either were non-existent or provided shitty service at prices much more expensive.

That is how Peronist economics work. A bit of Trump's mistaken thinking as well. This protectionism for local monopolies doesn't work.
Just try to make a pair of sneakers or clothes in the USA instead of Vietnam and it would cost many multiples more. Same thing is happening in Argentina. Many such factories and manufacturing plants in Argentina are all closing because they can't compete with imported products which are cheaper now that Milei is reducing import taxes.
