Shein vs. Temu in Argentina: Which One’s Worth It? Tips, Customs & What to Buy

Hey everyone! With both Shein and Temu getting more popular in Argentina, I was wondering what your experiences have been like. Both offer international shipping and super low prices, but there are some key differences when it comes to what’s worth buying, delivery times, and especially how customs/duties work here.
I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions, some people say Temu is better for gadgets and home stuff, while Shein is great for fashion. But what about shipping reliability, extra costs, or AFIP headaches?
Would love to know:
  • Which platform have you used and how did it go?
  • Did you have to pay customs?
  • What products are actually worth it?

Let’s help each other avoid those expensive surprises 😅

I’ve ordered from Shein twice, mostly clothes and accessories. The prices were amazing, and the quality is decent if you read the reviews carefully.
BUT: I had to pay customs both times. Not crazy expensive, but it added like 50% to my total 😩. Make sure to check how much you’re allowed to bring in before ordering.

I’m not really the target market for either, but my wife has been ordering from both for a few months now, and I’ve become the official “customs guy” in the house. 😅

Shein:
She mostly gets clothes and accessories. The quality is hit or miss, but some pieces surprised us for the price. Shipping usually takes 2–3 weeks. We didn’t have to pay customs because she kept the orders under the US$50 per shipment limit, and only placed one per month (important!).
AFIP didn’t bother us, no weird emails or extra charges.

Temu:
She tried Temu for some home gadgets and random kitchen stuff. It did take longer (almost a month), and the tracking wasn’t as reliable. Prices are crazy cheap, but quality really depends on the item — some were great, others looked like they’d last two uses.
One package did get flagged by customs, and we had to pay about $5,000 ARS to get it released. Not terrible, but a hassle.

Tips:
  • Try to stay under the $50 limit per shipment.
  • Use Correo Argentino tracking and the epago site to pay if needed.
  • Temu is better for random stuff, Shein for clothes, but don’t expect Zara quality.
  • If you’re ordering from a shared account, remember AFIP only lets you bring in 12 international shipments per year per CUIT.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you want to see what she ordered, I think half our kitchen is Temu at this point 😂
