New Requirement to Enter Argentina: Mandatory Health Insurance

Starting July 1st, all travelers entering Argentina must show proof of health insurance.
This change is part of the government’s new immigration reform and applies to both tourists and those entering on temporary visas.

What kind of insurance?
It hasn’t been clarified yet whether it must be international insurance or if local coverage will also be accepted. What’s important is that it includes medical coverage within Argentina. Some airports are already asking for it, so it’s best to come prepared.
Has anyone already been asked to show proof of insurance when entering?
What insurance do you recommend to avoid issues?

I flew into Ezeiza last week and they did ask for proof of insurance at check-in in Miami. I showed them a PDF of my World Nomads policy and that was fine. They didn’t ask for specifics, just proof of coverage.

I’ve been using SafetyWing for a while and I entered Argentina on July 2nd without any issues. They asked me to confirm I had insurance but didn’t look at the document closely. Still, better to have it ready!
