Keeping Permanent Residency in Argentina after new law changing from a visit once every 2 years to 1?

Hi all.

Quick question. My sister got her DNI a while ago and it was a required 1 visit every 2 years or you would lose your permanent residency. Now Milei changed it to a visit every 12 months. Unfortunately she missed that as mom had cancer and been dealing with that mess. Does anyone know if she will lose her permanent residency status? Or is she grandfathered in or will they take it away?

I can't tell if this is for new people getting DNI's or will she lose it which would be sad as it took a while to get. It is unclear if people that had the permanent residency will be ok. Anyone know for sure?

That is a good question. I don't know anyone in that situation but I'm sure many of us would want to know as many have their PR here. Let us know if you find out.

I don't think there is enough situations yet as it just changed last year. I know during the pandemic they waived the 2 year. I had some friends that couldn't come in and when they came back 3 years after they were ok. I am not sure how they will handle this situation. Not sure if the system will flag them when they arrive back to Argentina.

You won't have any issues at least not now. The migraciones is chaos. I was away a long time and just came back a few months ago and I didn't have any problems. I was worried. My DNI is not expired and I have permanent residency but haven't been back for several years.

Who knows if it's like this for everyone but I didn't have any problems.
