The President will attend the La Rural property accompanied by José Luis Espert. “I have been actively participating for many years,” he recalled.

Despite the harsh speech of the head of the El Libro Foundation during the inauguration of the traditional Fair, where Alejandro Vaccaro questioned that for the first time since the return of democracy the Argentine State does not have a stand, President Javier Milei ratified his presence in the exhibition to present his latest book.

"I'm going. (José Luis) Espert will accompany me and I present Capitalism, Socialism and the Neoclassical trap. I have been actively participating for many years ,” the Head of State explained to LN+ , who clarified that the organizers asked him for $450 million pesos for the government to have an official presence.

“Now that money is being covered by the province of Buenos Aires,” he explained when referring to stand 602, which is located in the Blue Pavilion of the La Rural Fairgrounds. There you can find Buenos Aires publishers and authors, university publishers from all over the country, book presentations, talks on current culture, ministry activities, workshops and proposals for children.

The controversy arose after Vaccaro gave a strong speech against Milei, whom he accused of turning his back on the exhibition. “ After despising our fair, he does not blush and asks to participate in this space , whose presence is scheduled for next Sunday, May 12 on the central court of La Rural,” said the writer.

The Government explained why it will not have an official presence at the Buenos Aires Book Fair

In this context, last Friday the presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni explained the reasons why there will be no official participation. “The stand had a cost of 300 million pesos, to which about 150 million pesos more had to be added for assembly and disassembly . The Ministry of Culture chose, instead, to use the resources to collaborate with popular libraries so that they can renew and acquire new titles,” said the spokesperson during one of his usual press conferences from the Casa Rosada.

In that meeting with journalists, the official insisted that it was a question of efficiency in decision-making to reduce something that was an unreasonable amount for the time in which we live,” and said that “it does not merit further justification because the Amounts were really exorbitant to be like this when we consider that much more could be contributed from another side.”

In any case, when asked by Infobae, he could not confirm whether the total funds saved by the national State by not participating in the Book Fair were going to go to popular libraries or only a part of those items were going to be reassigned for that.

“The President is going to present his book and the decision to do so in the largest place the property has is a matter of capacity. I understand that it has twice the capacity of the largest room, the main room . It is a security issue and it has been raised that way for a long time. It has nothing to do with the latest statements,” Adorni said .

Regarding the organization for the president's presentation, it was reported that Casa Militar will be in charge of the security operation. The head of the El Libro Foundation, in the aforementioned speech, had referred to this situation with irony: " Mr. President, I tell you with a hand on my heart, there is no money ."
