Is Public transportation like subways and buses safe in Buenos Aires?

I have mostly just used taxis and Uber and Cabify. Are buses and subways safe? Every local friend has gotten their phones stolen on the subway at one point or another. I just avoided it up until now. A friend said a bus was robbed. But how common is there? I never take the bus in large metro areas of the USA. I guess I have always had a car or rented a car when traveling. Besides bigger cities like NYC and recently it was very scary on the subway system in NYC!

Is it safe with iPhones on subway or bus? Are my local friends exaggerating? Ubers are ok once in a while but I'm spending a fortune taking them daily.

No problems at all. Just be careful on subway but I had the latest iPhone and never had any problems. Public transport is totally safe. I feel safer in BA on it than New York City!
