Help! Urgently need a Carta de Intimación to Cancillería! How do I get it?

Anyone know how I can get a Carta de Intimacion from Migraciones to Cancilleria? I'm renewing my DNI and it's the only thing holding things up.

How do I get Migraciones to issue it? My Spanish is terrible. I tried to get one of my friends to go down with me but they were busy. I already have my FBU Benefits letter but migraciones won't accept it without getting certified from Canceilleria.

They won't do it on verbal request. They said they need written request from Migraciones. How do I get Migraciones to issue this letter?

You're stuck in the red tape loop. You have to go down to Migraciones because you can NOT do this online. You have to be physically present.

Here are the things you need to bring:

- Your DNI/passport

- Your FBU Benefits letter

- A printed note explaining exactly what Cancillería requires

- A print-out of Cancillería’s guidance (often their page or a PDF saying they will only certify with a written request)

- Any case/file number in the Migration system

Ask for a Nota Migratoria (Office Memo) which is basically what they are asking when they are asking for the Carta de Intimacion. The officer has to write a memo like, “Migraciones solicita a Cancillería la certificación correspondiente para el trámite del DNI, en base a lo solicitado por el interesado, anexando copia de la constancia de beneficio FBU.”

The first time I went the clerk had no clue so I asked for a supervisor. The clerks are lazy f*cks and don't like to work but if you get one like this just ask for a supervisor. They will do it. But based on my experience it helps to have all of these things above. That is what worked for me.

This is great advice. I went down with my girlfriend that helped me. I ran into the same thing with the front line clerk not wanting to help. I didn't think to talk to a Supervisor or manager.

We had to end up going to the Departamento Jurídico / Asesoría Legal Nacional de Migraciones who helped immediately. They asked for exactly what Ben listed above. My Spanish is pretty good but nothing is better than a pissed up Porteña to get things done quickly. I think a Manager would be able to help but if not go to the office I listed above and they can get it.

If you don't have a friend that speaks Spanish you can get it done yourself following Ben's advice and saying this:

"Necesito que Migraciones me emita una carta official dirigida a Cancilleria solicitando la certificación de mi constancia de beneficios FBU, ya que Canceilleria no acepta solicitudes verbales.

La carta debe decir que Migraciones solicita formalmente a Cancilleria la certificación requerida para poder completar mi tramite de DNI. Tengo la constancia de beneficios FBU y la indicación de Canceilleria que solo aceptaran una solicitud por escrito de Migraciones" .

I think that is the printed note Ben is referring to. With this it makes it idiot proof. That staff in MIgraciones do NOT like to work so this will ensure success.
