The dispute over shared funds that broke out between the national government and the provinces, and which reached its peak of maximum tension with the threat of the governor of Chubut, Ignacio “Nacho” Torres , to cut off the oil supply, provoked the virulent reaction. of Javier Milei exposed both by his public statements and by his behavior on social networks. The Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos , who must mediate between the Nation and the provincial leaders, referred to the ways of the head of State and pointed out that he “goes forward, does not back down” and “is a fighter . ”

“The president does not retreat, he does not go backwards , on the contrary, every time they put up a barrier he goes forward,” he highlighted. “We are talking with the governors, I don't want to put it in terms of who is advancing more and who is less, what I am clear about is that the president is not backing down ,” he added.

“There are things he said and things he didn't say . Phrases are attributed to him that he has not really said and others are part of the personality of the president who is a fighter for these issues. “He is at the forefront of everything that has to do with his conception of the State, what it should be and what it should not be,” said the minister in dialogue with LN+.

“There are many provinces that have not been able to develop their economic activity to be able to have their own income, so those that generate more resources protest because they receive less than what they give. “They are systems that must be reviewed,” he noted about the conflict.

Regarding the point of tension with Chubut, he warned that “it is an issue that the Supreme Court should address.” Regarding the judicial ruling, he said that the Rawson judge, Hugo Ricardo Sastre, “tried to give a half-Solomonic solution to an issue for which he had no jurisdiction.” While he pointed out against the governor: “Torres has said things that are not . They (the provincial government) have proposed a refinancing of the debt on Thursday of last week, on Friday the Secretary of the Interior sent an email to the Ministry of Economy of the province with the requirements to be able to analyze the issue; They didn't see that email. The documents are not complete yet..."

Asked about Mauricio Macri's role in the conflict with Chubut, since prior to the problem there was a meeting between the former president and the governor, the minister said that "he cannot assign him any role."

In the midst of the crisis, Francos highlighted improvements in the macroeconomy

The minister referred to the economic crisis and said that “in macroeconomic terms we are fine.” He highlighted that “inflation is declining”, although the number remains high, but justified: “We do not go from undeclared hyperinflation to moderate inflation. A hyper that was practically at the door was avoided. It was avoided, it was contained in December, it went down in January and it will go down in February; "They are good signs."

“The Government received a Central Bank without a dollar and buys dollars every day. The monetary base has been reduced, there are many fewer pesos in circulation, all elements that help control economic variables and inflation,” he explained.

“The Government stated very clearly that this is the hard path that had to be taken. You don't go from a situation like the one received to a situation of growth overnight, you have to go through an adjustment of the economy, which is what you are going through, he said.

Looking ahead to the speech on March 1 in Congress, he announced that the libertarian "is going to discuss the state of the Republic, how he found it, how the Nation's accounts are and what he is doing to solve it." “It is good to show reality to all the Argentines who, in fact, knew…” he continued. “What Milei is trying to carry out, very firmly, is to put the accounts in order, to make it clear to society what the situation we are in,” he concluded.

He is accomplishing quite a bit but we need to give him at least 2-3 years to see where Argentina will be then. So far so good.
