Good quality electronic programmable safes available in Buenos Aires?

Anyone know of any really good electronic safes to install? I ordered one on Mercado Libre but it is very cheap and looking at Youtube videos it is easy to get in. I used a method on YT and was able to break into it. Are there any really good quality safes out there? I'm willing to spend a bit more. Thanks.

I just bought one on Mercado Libre and it suits its purpose. I just have my passport and a few documents. I don't keep much money inside of it but better than nothing.

Here is the one I purchased. But I don't know if it is easy to break into or not.

That is a little more than I paid for mine. But yours has good reviews.

Hi @Dick,

I agree with you that the typical safes you can buy online aren't as high quality as some of the hotel quality safes. But if someone really wants to get into one they will get in. The absolute best ones in Buenos Aires you can get are from ASSA ABLOY. They aren't cheap. Typically about 4 X the cost of the cheaper ones on Mercado Libre but I can tell you that they are almost impossible to get into without taking an electric saw and cutting into it.

I purchased one of these back in 2010 and my property manager recently couldn't find the master key to open it and the guest forgot his code. I had to call a locksmith and even he couldn't get into it. He had to remove it from the wall (we mount it to the wall) and take an electric saw and cut into the back of it. They are very sturdy!

This is the one that I purchased but if you hit a hammer on top really hard it will open. Try it. I realize that if someone wants to get in they will but I didn't want to make it easy if I have a maid and she just hits the top and it opens!

This is exactly what I was thinking about. I couldn't find these online. I don't mind paying more for them. How much was that?

To give you an idea, the locksmith sent a video so you can see what it took to get into it.

This video is very helpful and shows me this is exactly what I need. I was planning to bolt it to the wall like you did so someone can't run off with it. The fact they needed a band saw to cut into it tells me this is the one I need.

Yes on the cheaper ones you can just hit the top of the safe or the side of it with a rubber mallet or hammer and it usually will pop open. These ones I referenced above I paid about $400 to $500 USD when I bought it. I'm not sure if the cost on them came down at all. Every place I lived in Buenos Aires while I lived there I put in the same type of safe. Never had any issues.

@Dick, I just sent you a DM with my last contact I had at that company in BA so you can ask him about prices.

Damn $500? I would rather let the thief steal my stuff and just buy another $100 safe. 🤣

Seriously that video was impressive that they couldn't break into it.
