People were complaining about Igor for years. He went to a few of the meet ups in the early days of the old forum. I met him. He is one strange guy.
What a shame. I never was on the site and just took a look to look at @earlyretirement's old posts. Wow, a LOT of information on there This guy seems strange to ruin his site. Oh well. Better as we have ExpatsBA now. Better in every way.

this feel like old home week. early retirement you did a great job. you wouldn’t remember but you came to my defense a few times. the recently banned poster reminds me of ajo. steve and him went round and round. back in the day if you posted on the old site expect a fight from someone. gracias por todo

props to early retirements building expertise. i bought my apartment when the building was up. 14 floors. the inside was not finished. i waited 6 months and finally told the owner that i was going to finish it on my own. flooring, electrical switches and fixtures, curtains, paint, plumbing and hotwater heater, on and on. i completed it with furniture in 3 weeks. sergio the owner wanted to hire me and i said you can’t afford me.

Wow you bought an apartment and they were supposed to deliver it finished and did not? Lots of horror stories on pozos. I read that even experienced people in Argentina like BowTiedMara on X bought a bunch of pozos and they never finished. Ouch.

Did that dude @StatusNomadicus get banned forever? There was a rumor he got deported. Is that true?
Wow is that true? That would be sad if true.

@earlyretirement definitely knows what he is doing. My sister hired him to help manage once it's done. Everyone he has referred to her has been incredibly helpful and very good with communication. Something that I found impossible living here 15 years. @jbeas176 I would love to read a post about your experience with your apartment. That sounds like quite an adventure!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am on my 2nd apartment in Palermo. Both were pozos built by the same developer. One is being built now and will be finished December 2027. I can't even imagine trying to do this on my own. I hired @BuySellBA back in 2023 and everything turned out just like they forecasted to me. My finished apartment has been booked completely solid. It's been one of my best investments to date. I loved staying in it. That is my toughest problem that I get long term booking requests and I want to use it. I am coming back in October and had to block it out ahead of time.

@jbeas176 do you have construction experience? Kudos to you for finishing it so quickly.

hello betsy ross and johnny. betsy. i came to ba by myself at a friends recommendation. we travel asia together. turns out it was good advise. i knew nothing of pozes. i hired a realtor and he show me the place. i felt comfortable because the building was up. i hired an attorney recomended from a law firm my sister worked. he help me through negotiations but failed to show up at the signing with the escobano. they would not let me sign i did not understand. between the owners bad english and my bad spanish we were able to draft a signable document. i have done enough real estate to know what was needed. the only mistake was i am now born on jan 11 not nov 1. that being completed i waited for sergio to complete the inside. remember i am a general contractor and have a pretty good feel for how long the process shouls take. so as stated i took over the construction of my apartment. i had a friend that knew where the materials district was. i live in palermo and one of the reasons i bought there is the availability for hardware stores. i used easy for alot of things, paint store 3 blocks away. one of the reasons i bought this apartment was it had thd plumbing available for a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. i rewired the electrical for ceiling fans. lots of mood lighting with dimmers on all lights. had to move the hotwater up high enough so the refrigerator would fit. the black outs and curtains we also on the next street. i bought most of my furniture from the design center off the floor a condition for purchase. linens and towels in the neighborhood the bed also in the neighborhood. i used light brown paint with light green acent walls all satin and washable. i changed some of the countertops to have an 1 in and a half face. put a single sheet of glass on top of the tud with a 2 ft opening. i had help with the flooring by paying a little extra for fast service. to this day i haven’t had to repaint. the ceilings are a flat white. palermo made it possible. johnny i was raised to diy. cars included. i was a carpentry contractor first framing custon homes and apartment complexes.if you know anything about contraction, carpenters have to know everything about other trades to make space for there equipment. carpenters make good generals. i allways took pride in taking off the full for all trades on a spread sheet i made before you could buy them. i worked out unit priced with all my subs and would do myown take off with pricing. when there bids came in we could dicuss any price differences. i worked well with architects and engineers. if it was the way it was drawn and we could value engineer it we did it. in most cases i was hiring them. general contractors work alot the architects and engineers in phoenix. they run the show with considerations for there structural input. i consult now and represent owners and subcontractors against generals. non once have i left negotiations without been friends with the generals. its because what i am saying is verifable. for early retirement i just worked on 5 offices with furniture for sotheby’s. hope i didnt bore you, thanks for reading it

You do realize however that you're now the official contractor for ExpatsBA 🙂

Thanks for sharing your story! Why would the lawyer need to show up at the signing with the Escribano? Here typically we don't hire lawyers as the Escribano is a lawyer. Also a mistake to not have a lawyer that doesn't speak English. I don't recommend not having a lawyer that speaks the same language as you.

In general based on living here a while now is everything here is more difficult than you think it would be. Everything takes longer too.

@jbeas176 . I enjoy your posts but you MUST learn how to use your Return key and make some paragraphs. It's painful reading your posts.
