In life most times it's not what you know but WHO you know. Case in point, this girl couldn't find a job in Buenos Aires. She is almost done getting her martillera publica. Her friend on X pinged me online and instantly I get her an interview at a large brokerage. I told them to hire her and they hired her instantly within a week. LOL.That's the impression I got is that advancing in one's career here isn't necessary based on merit, but more on who you know. So for many who are willing to work hard, won't get rewarded for the next promotion. This happens everywhere for sure, but I wonder if it's a more common thing here.
Also not sure but are most jobs, or at least the better jobs located in the city or CABA?? And are there lots of people traveling from outside to get there??
I know a local girl, she took public transport and it was a 2 hour journey - both to get there and 2 hours back. If I had to do that on top of a jerk of a boss I'd lose motivation pretty quickly too.
Just my impressions talking with her and some others locals in a limited sample size, and am sure others here can comment more.
Networking is key no matter which country you are in. Always who you know not what you know.
