Digital Nomad Visa Question. Has anyone been able to get a digital nomad visa that will allow you to live in Argentina with dependent kids?

Has anyone gone through the Digital Nomad visa process? The Rentista is too cumbersome and I don't think we would qualify. We want to do a sabbatical with our kids for a year. Has anyone done this? Will it work with kids too?

I hate to give the advice to break the law but from what I heard the Digital Nomad visa isn't worth it. Not worth all the hassles and fees. You can just overstay and pay a penalty fine. It has always been like this since I moved here. I had friends that went through the process of getting one visa or another and in the end they all tell me it would have been easier to just overstay and pay the penalty.

Argentina doesn't care if you overstay for 1 day or 1 year. The fine is the same. I know people that have been living here for 15 years like this.

Betsy is correct. Not worth it. The DN visa is a scam. Just overstay if you want. No one cares.

One lawyer told us that we could run into issues and told us we might not be able to come back into the country and that is not an option for us as we plan to rent a place long term. We also wanted to travel around in the region. So we definitely won't have any problems?

You won't have any problems. Just overstay and pay the fine. The lawyer probably just wanted to try to charge you into getting some residency. There is no way for the government to know that you aren't just on extended vacation and traveling around. Zero issues. Schools won't check your residency status. They only will care if you have the $ to pay them.

Listen to the others advice. Argentina has to be one of the easiest countries in the world to just overstay. No one cares. We had a child born here and that was easy too to get Citizenship. Argentina welcomes anyone that has a baby here. You shouldn't have problems traveling as you want either. We have had several friends stay here for an extended period and overstayed and they just paid the overstay fee at the airport.

This is what I can't understand. It seems like many are just overstaying and paying a penalty or going on visa runs. Won't Argentina count this against you when you apply for residency? I am going to apply for Rentista. I will easily qualify with rental income with my Airbnb's but I want to wait until I figure out a better grasp on tax exposure because Argentina has worldwide income tax on assets and I own a lot of real estate around the world.

The question is will they know about them? I would have to set up an LLC for each property to hide them. Anyone done this that has residency in Argentina?

She is so wonderful. They will guarantee my residency so I am not worried. I talked to her on Zoom and going to meet her to her office on Monday. I found her name on this forum.
