Yup, finally! You can now ride the subte in Buenos Aires using a QR code, no NFC, no SUBE card needed. Just open your digital wallet app scan the code at the turnstile, and you're good to go.
It works on all lines and the Premetro too. Super handy if you forget your SUBE, run out of balance, or just prefer to go card-free.

FYI: You don’t need an internet connection at the moment of scanning, but your wallet does need to have funds.

I tried it this week and it worked super smoothly. Felt kinda futuristic, Argentine style 😄

Anyone else tried it yet? Curious to hear if it worked for you too.

The downside is that you still can’t pay with Apple Pay, it’s not supported yet. For now, it only works with local digital wallets like Mercado Pago, Cuenta DNI, Modo, BNA+, Personal Pay, etc. These are the ones that generate the QR code you scan at the turnstile.
It’d be awesome if Apple Pay got added, but for now, you’ve got to go through one of those apps. That said, if you have an Argentine card linked to Apple Pay, you can use it to top up one of those wallets, so it’s an extra step, but it works.
