Culture Shocks from Living in Argentina as an Expat?

I think the hardest part was getting used to the dinner schedule. Now that I think about it, oh my god, we used to eat so early! What we considered dinner time is basically merienda time for locals here. But honestly, I’ve grown to love it now.

God bless merienda time haha. I've been living here for years and it was the best decision of my life, and I'm not just talking about the meriendas. This country and its culture have truly made me a better person.

My friends loved it there! Up until everything got more expensive than the USA at nice restaurants! They have moved on to greener and cheaper pastures!

For me, like many others, the biggest cultural shock was getting used to the schedules. The whole ‘previa’ thing (hanging out before actually going out) and staying up partying until so late felt crazy at first. I remember thinking, this is insane, how do people function? But once you experience it, you realize the party literally never ends, haha.

Yes! When an Argentine tells you ‘let’s meet for dinner at 9 PM,’ you need to know they’ll probably show up at 10, haha. That definitely took some getting used to! Though to be fair, that only applies to casual gatherings, when it comes to work, in my experience, they’re punctual.
