Buenos Aires ranked the safest city in Latin America

I felt like Buenos Aires was extremely safe. I walked around at night without any problems. I was surprised at how safe it was for the economy being as bad as it was. Just saw this and floored to see BA higher than most cities in the USA too.

Buenos Aires has always been very safe. There is pick pocketing like most major cities but I have always found it safe at least in the nicer neighborhoods. @Jakoval has posted about crime in Conurbano which sounds rough.

I've found BA to be very safe. There are a lot of petty crime like cellphone theft so you have to be careful there but violent crime is low.

Especially seeing Argentina pretty low with pick pocketing and phone thefts, but to be fair that may be common in BA.

My mom just visited BA and she was surprised how safe it was. It feels safer than Europe to me. I see more pickpockets in London or Paris vs. here.

My impression so far has been that Buenos Aires is pretty safe, especially the areas where expats live/roam. However, I also see many news articles on local sites that suggest that it is not really the case here. Daylight robberies at gunpoint, handphone snatching, violence/loot in shops, etc. I hope as a foreigner, we never have to face these.

I see a lot of crime on the news or on X but it looks like most of the crime is concentrated outside of the city. I saw the other day on the news thieves were trying to steal a motorcycle on the highway and a bystander in a car ran him over. Turned out she was a cop.

Outside in the Provincia it can be a jungle. Stan here is that robbery attempt. The female police officer ended up getting charged. She should have received a medal as far as I'm concerned.

I saw on the news they did a fundraiser and raised $20,000 USD so far for the police officer.

Typically very safe here. Although saw this in Palermo today in a nice area near Alto Palermo Mall. The owner had to pull a gun on these thieves.

I was surprised to see this online today. I find it very safe here. According to this Argentina has a lot of crime per capita.
