Being Black in Argentina: Experiences and Acceptance

It is wild how they just don't care about being politically correct. A hamburger place an hour outside of CABA called Big Nigga. You can do this when there are no black people in your country.

My black friend just got back from BA. He liked it ok but he said that although he found people nice to him he said he could tell going out in the clubs girls were too interested. Not racism but he said the culture there didn't seem receptive to dating black men. I sent him that restaurant and he just laughed. He said he would have liked to have eaten there and snapped a photo. Only in Argentina can you have a placed called Big Nigga.

But are they trying to give the kid back? After carrying it for 9 months. Wow.
...
They don't look too happy in this photo. ...
It's crazy that anyone would read that story and make it about racism. The fact that the kid was a different color simply made the clinic's error obvious. Imagine how many errors are not known where the babies and the parents are the same race. Of course they should be trying to give the kid back! It's someone's biological kid! And the mother of that biological kid could have been implemented with this couple's embryo, and surely this couple would want their own baby back as well. They can only hope that whomever has their kid would be willing to give her back to them willingly.

My personal experience in Argentina is that most don't care what color or race you are. It's nothing like the crazy obsession with race that is seen in the USA.

I can't imagine that poor parents to get the wrong baby. Regardless of what race it is. That is tough. I hope the story has a happy ending. I doubt anyone will want to give a kid back after carrying it for 9 months regardless if it is biologically theirs or not. Good luck with that!

I think there is racism here same as other countries. To pretend like it doesn't exist is a lie. It happens everywhere.

How is this even Argentina related? The story was something that happened in Florida. Orlando, FL.

I was thinking the same thing. Oh well. Agree with Tony that it's not as a big deal here. No one talks about black white issues 24/7 like USA.

I don't think that Argentines are hostile to blacks at all. Everyone is easy going but I do see amongst local friends they joke around a lot about blacks. You can see some examples in this guy's video but I like that they aren't politically correct sometimes and obsessed about that.

This black guy has never been to Argentina. It wouldn't be fair to say there is no racism in Argentina. I don't know anywhere in the world where there isn't racism. But this person has never even been to Argentina before.

the original poster has india heritage not african. this thread should die although its had an interesting life
I don't see many black people here at all. Not even tourists. All of the bad reputation of Argentina towards blacks must be working because I can go many days without seeing any black people.

I actually think Argentines are more racist towards some darker skinned people from Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, etc. vs blacks from America. I hear a lot of comments here.

Terrible what happened to this black tourist that was in Buenos Aires. Someone robbed her place. I didn't even know they had a KFC in Buenos Aires. Apparently they stepped out to get some KFC and someone robbed them.

curious what neighborhood that was from. most apts have security either physical or cameras. my building has a porteno for 3 hours in the morning. you have to have a fab to enter or exit. the elevator has a different code for each floor. cameras for the lobby that you can view from your iphone. pretty hard to enter and exit the building. would not meet fire codes in the usa. if there was a fire you need a fab to exit. we have not had proplems. when it was first opened my apartment was robbed. aninside job from from the guy that sold me the apartment anc i left a key in the ceiling in case something went wrong. the porteno took sundays off and i was robbed of my electronics. hope you enjoyed the tv’s roberto

Ouch. The former owner robbed you? You didn't change the locks after you bought it? Many of the robberies were are inside job with either maid knows or someone knows who is there or what you have. I'm not sure if I'd say most of the apartments have security. I'd say more in BA have no security or cameras vs. have them. Many buildings are going to the video system but more apartments I go into have no security.
