Argentina Blue Dollar Goes up to 1,220 pesos to $1 USD

It really helps the peso being what it is instead of 1,100 to $1. I just hope inflation doesn't skyrocket.
It should be much much higher than it is right now. Hopefully it crashes to what it really should be.

It's only a matter of time now. Milei and his sister and sinking themselves.

The peso was going to fairer values until the US started bailing out Milei.

Even still Morgan Stanley is saying best case scenario of 1,700 pesos to $1 by the end of 2025. It will be interesting to see what it actually is.

It is probably impossible to really say what the peso will be at with all the intervening by both Argentina and now the US. Everyone I talk to says the peso is overvalued. That is except Trump and Bessant but not sure how well they know Argentina. Talk all over the news is they bailed out their hedge fund friends.

I wonder what the exchange rate would have gone up to if the US government didn't jump in? It was sinking very quickly.
It was on its way to 2000 to $1. The issue is the normal person on the street has no desire and probably never will of holding pesos over dollars in Argentina. They know better so while the US help might help in the short term I doubt it will help in the long term.

Blue jumped up to 1485 today. Even with another tweet from US Treasury Bessent. No affect at all. Everyone is buying dollars.

Seems like Bessent is sending out tweets daily but it is not helping. Most locals are saying it should be over 2,000 to $1. Here is the former President of the Banco la nacion saying the values now are out of whack.

Just wild to think that even with the US government supporting Argentina so much the exchange rate keeps going up. What I don't understand is everyone everyone is saying the same thing is this guy in the article. I don't know much about the situation, especially with the US government so involved but one thing for sure is that if the US wasn't involved it seems like the exchange rate would be far over 2,000 to $1 already.

With so many people saying the peso is going to get devalued after the election I wonder if it becomes a self fulfilling thing.

This tells me how terrible the situation is. Seems like a full blown currency collapse. Even with USA backstopping the peso it wasn't enough. Bessent had to double the help and that didn't help either.

The election is weekend. Bessent will probably announce more this week but I don't know if it will be enough. Seems like a complete meltdown without the US bailout and still might be a meltdown.

Damn. My trip next in a few weeks just got a lot cheaper. See that blue keeps going up! Looks like 1565 to $1 this morning. $1554 yesterday at Western Union and that will probably go up too. I wonder if there is a chance of it getting worse after sunday?

The true answer is no one really knows.
If he loses , the result may already be built in to market expectations
If he gets a "draw" , there might be a slight recovery.
Hard one to call ....

Agree with you @GlasgowJohn although everyone is saying that the peso is still overvalued so I don't know. It is difficult to fight with the USA if they will provide billions and billions but if LLA is not successful it might not come. Either way I am keeping USD.

This probably all depends on what the USA is going to do. They sold a massive amount of dollars today. They have pledged $20 billion which is massive. Agree with John it is anyone's guess.

That's the worst thing - it's a guessing game.

We all agree that the current exchange rate does not reflect the true value of the peso, but we are unable to agree on what the correct value may be!

And no one is really sure what the USA cash injection really means and if Argetina has put up any collateral.

But the US aid seems like it will just keep the peso overvalued further. Seems like just kicking the can down the road and delaying the day of reckoning. Anyone's guess now.

The US probably won't require any collateral in the currency swap but the private $20 Billion will. Let's see what happens Sunday. @GlasgowJohn is anyone in your family changing their vote due to anything going on with Milei? Does your family see better conditions since Milei came into power?
