The USA inflation infex does not include food or energy prices

Wait until $150 to $175 a barrel oil. Not going to be good.

Argentina's Milei pitches to Wall Street as investors reassess emerging markets

Argentina can thank their lucky stars for the USA. Honestly without Trump and Bessent's help before the mid-term election I am not sure that Milei would have made it. The backstop on the peso will only go so far. Trump's popularity is fading. It remains to be seen how much new FDI will enter...

Expatsba's Top 50 restaurants (according to grok)

Agree. That is the best food for the buck. Great deals at some although prices have creeped up. Agree! This is one of my favorites. But you MUST make a reservation as they fill up fast.

New wave of shutdowns and layoffs puts Argentine industry on alert

I think it's fine to use tariffs to give local businesses a fighting chance against global giants. In fact, that’s exactly what Néstor Kirchner did, and it actually helped the country recover during his first term—even if he did end up being incredibly corrupt. The real problem isn't the idea of...

New wave of shutdowns and layoffs puts Argentine industry on alert

Stores like Zara are expensive compared to US or Europe. What I noticed is prices at higher quality stores is still very expensive. Stuff isn't selling but stores are discounting to get stuff out the door. As it should be.

Are salaries this low for expats or locals???

It's tough here because so much of the economy is under the table. But according to government statistics the numbers aren't pretty. Read another post. @Jakoval said it best. Third world salaries and first world prices.

Best telos (sex hotels) in Buenos Aires?

This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

So far none of you have done a convincing job telling me what a real alternative is besides Buenos Aires or Argentina. So, you know, we've all heard that the grass is supposed to be greener on the other side, but let me tell you, these days, it's more like a sad shade of beige. Like, who even...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Alrighty, buckle up for the thrilling update on the Nampe Inflation Index – still standing strong at a cool $1450 or, if you fancy the decimal dance, about $1.45 per bottle. You know, the kind of index that would make the stock market green with envy. Now, here's a hot tip: if you're feeling...

Politics The Argentine Government resigned from the BRICS through a letter sent by President Javier Milei - CNN

Oh, yeah, BRICS, the powerhouse of... nothing? Like, seriously, who needs formal agreements or any kind of political or military alliance? And trade agreements? Pfft, who needs those? It's not like they make any difference, right? So, being part of BRICS is just a thrilling ride of absolute...

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

@Larry your posts are amongst the most exaggerated and the biggest doom and gloom poster on this forum. You keep mentioning how Argentina is very expensive now contrary to other members that have lived here for years. Even @Che Vos comments how your posts are wrong and it's not that expensive...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

So, the central banks hitting the print button like it's a game of Whack-A-Mole? Yeah, that's basically a recipe for "inflation party, everyone's invited." I vividly remember prices from the ancient era of 2011 (my first rodeo here), but hey, let's not forget we're on a discount spree compared...

Newcomer WTF is the deal with Pedestrians not having the right of way in Buenos Aires. I almost got killed today at a green light

I find myself pondering the driving adventures of Argentines in the US, where the traffic laws are like sacred cash cows for local governments. Take Miami, for instance – you can casually turn right at red lights if the coast is clear, and heaven forbid if you don't hit the brakes for...

Politics Thread: President Javier Milei - From Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) to Today

It's typical for out-going Presidents to hire all their family and friends and friends of friends with cushy or fake governmental jobs. Milei just said adios to all of these people. They thought they had a cushy job but NOPE...
