Visas Argentina passport holders will be able to visit the US without a visa...

Yes, totally! This is huge news for Argentines, they’re getting their “golden ticket” back to the U.S. after more than 20 years of having to apply for a visa. The not-so-great part? It’s going to take 2 or 3 years to actually happen… but it’s still a pretty strong symbolic move for Milei in...

Need a quick escape from BA – any fave nature spots?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a weekend getaway within 2 hours of Buenos Aires City. Ideally somewhere surrounded by nature, where we can relax but also do some fun activities like horseback riding, hiking, or maybe even some water activities if there’s a river or lake nearby...

Who’s still around here in BA despite the tough economic changes?

I think a lot of people have left. The cost of living has gone up so much that the financial incentive isn’t there anymore. Back in 2021-2022 you could live comfortably on a modest income from abroad, but now the gap has closed. If you don’t have local ties or a strong reason to stay, it’s tough.

Food & Drink Best alfajores brands?

you’re just scratching the surface , you're missing out on a whole world of alfajores! I recently tried Rasta alfajores and... dear god, they’re dangerously good. Total addiction. I think they’re handmade in small batches, and the dulce de leche inside is next level , super rich and creamy. If...

Shein vs. Temu in Argentina: Which One’s Worth It? Tips, Customs & What to Buy

I’m not really the target market for either, but my wife has been ordering from both for a few months now, and I’ve become the official “customs guy” in the house. 😅 Shein: She mostly gets clothes and accessories. The quality is hit or miss, but some pieces surprised us for the price. Shipping...

"Recovery"? Then why are so many shops in BA closing?

Totally agree. Many business owners still think raising prices is the only way to survive, but in reality, they end up pushing away the few customers who still shop in person. Instead of adapting by lowering margins and increasing volume, they stick to inefficient setups and prices that don’t...

Any recommendations for laser hair removal for men?

I’ve been going to Depi4ever in Palermo Soho. Super professional, really clean, and they’re totally fine working with male clients. I didn’t speak much Spanish at first, but one of the girls speaks decent English and made me feel really comfortable. For me, it took around 8 sessions to see...

What are the dream companies to work for in Argentina?

A friend’s cousin just started working at Globant. He’s in tech, and apparently it completely changed his life. He can actually save money, travel, and has better benefits than most people I know here. I was told that in job interviews, they even ask: “Are you aiming for one of the big ones?”...

Getting Fingerprinted for FBI Report in BA – Any Tips?

There are companies in the US that can handle the apostille part for you (just do a quick Google search and you’ll find plenty). But you’ll need to download and print the fingerprint card from the US Embassy website, then get your fingerprints taken here in Buenos Aires, the Embassy site...

Has anyone been able to do a Union Convivencial in Provincia (outside of CABA) using just a passport?

Totally hear you. It’s kind of hit-or-miss depending on the office in Provincia. The civil registry offices in CABA are more used to dealing with foreigners, but once you go outside the city, some staff don’t really know the rules. According to the law, a passport is fine, as long as you can...

Did you know you can now pay for the subway with your phone?

Yup, finally! You can now ride the subte in Buenos Aires using a QR code, no NFC, no SUBE card needed. Just open your digital wallet app scan the code at the turnstile, and you're good to go. It works on all lines and the Premetro too. Super handy if you forget your SUBE, run out of balance, or...

Argentine Senators give themselves yet another raise

Here we go again… Isn’t that number a bit excessive? Over 9.5 million a month? Meanwhile, regular salaries are barely keeping up with inflation. 😒 https://www.infobae.com/politica/2025/06/03/vuelven-a-aumentar-los-sueldos-de-los-senadores-cobraran-mas-de-95-millones-el-mes-proximo/

New Immigration Decree: What It Means for Foreigners in Argentina

Wow… hadn’t heard about this yet. Thanks for the heads up! Gonna dig into the details, hope it doesn’t mess with my visa plans 😅

Less than half of public primary school students have access to English classes in Argentina

Honestly, I used to think most schools didn’t really teach English, or that it was super basic… but I was surprised. In a lot of public schools, they start teaching it around 4th or 5th grade, and in places like Buenos Aires City, even from 1st grade. Private schools are a whole different story...

Is It Still OK to Disagree in Argentina?

I support Milei’s administration, but that doesn’t mean I can’t criticize it. Not everything has to be perfect or liked 100% of the time. When they make these kinds of unnecessary comments, all they’re doing is giving more fuel to the opposition and pushing people away. And honestly, if...
