Cultural activities & sports recommendations in BA

For ceramics in particular, look into Taller Escuela Cerámica Bulnes in Palermo. A lot of expats go there, and it has a really friendly vibe. https://ceramica1bulnes.edu.ar/

Has Tap-to-Pay Fraud Reached Buenos Aires?

Banks here usually have zero-fraud protection, so if something happens, you can report it and they reverse the charge. But yeah, it’s scary to think about.

Need a quick escape from BA – any fave nature spots?

El Tigre is a great option, but I also recommend San Antonio de Areco. I went a few months ago, this little gaucho town is a classic. There are estancias everywhere with horseback riding and amazing asados. Super chill vibe and only about 1h30 away. https://www.sanantoniodeareco.com/

Anyone know how to handle an overstay near the Chile border?

If you think the weather might delay you for several days, you could check in with Migraciones in Bariloche, just so they know. But Argentina is pretty used to overstay fines, it’s a standard process, nothing to worry about.

René Favaloro: 25 Years Later, His Legacy and the Questions That Still Remain

I think Favaloro’s story still hits home because, unfortunately, the problems he faced, corruption, bureaucracy, haven’t gone away. It’s sad that someone who gave so much felt so abandoned. We need to remember him not just for his medical breakthroughs, but also as a warning about how this...

Litigation ‘tsunami’ breaks over Argentina’s President Javier Milei - FT

It's a tough situation for Argentina. With interest piling up on the debt, it’s almost like a snowball effect, each delay makes it harder to pay down the principal, and the economy just can’t keep up. If Milei doesn’t find a way to either renegotiate or cut spending drastically, the country...

Newcomer Mosquitoes in Buenos Aires during the summer?

I’ve read that we need to be more careful than last summer because this time the mosquitoes are more resistant to repellent. I even read that they didn’t expect the first case to appear so early. So, we just need to be cautious and take care of ourselves, but not panic...

I need to exchange dollars tomorrow to cover some expenses, didn’t realize it had dropped so much... our money keeps losing value here.

Politics Finally, the government has decided to implement a dengue vaccination plan

There’s already a strategic vaccination plan that is expected to be implemented starting in September. Even though we’ve had a break from dengue mosquitoes with the cold wave, it’s said that they will start appearing again next month. So, stay alert for the vaccination...
