An issue that raises doubts and that is owned by the municipality, although the responsibility for maintenance and conservation falls on the front owner.

Who owns a sidewalk and who is responsible for its maintenance and cleaning? Rodrigo Nespolo.
In our country, sidewalks, which are public spaces designated for pedestrian traffic, are the property and responsibility of the municipality. However, the owner of the property in front of the sidewalk is responsible for maintaining it in good condition , free of obstacles that hinder traffic, and in a safe condition for pedestrians. This includes construction, repair, and cleaning.
In the City of Buenos Aires, Law 5902 on the Construction, Maintenance, and Reconstruction of Sidewalks, enacted in 2017, establishes that the obligation to construct, maintain, repair, and reconstruct sidewalks falls on the property owner. That is, if the owner carried out any work on the sidewalk that damaged it, they must repair it, and also in cases of normal wear and tear or misuse.
However, this isn't always the case. There are exceptions that are contemplated and that relieve the owner of liability . For example, if utility companies carry out work, they are the ones responsible for ensuring that the tiles are left in good condition once completed. If the companies fail to complete the repairs, residents can file a complaint by calling the toll-free number 147 or at the appropriate municipal office.
Likewise, if the sidewalk is partially or completely destroyed as a result of works carried out by the city government or due to tree root growth, the Ministry of Public Space is responsible for its repair or reconstruction. This is replicated nationwide, although the conditions for sidewalk maintenance and use are determined by each municipality.

To place furniture or plants on the sidewalk, you must request authorization. Fabian Marelli.
To take note
In Buenos Aires, if you want to replace a ramp in poor condition or request a missing one at a corner , you can submit a request for its construction or repair through the 147 app, by calling *147, or through the Requests website. Additionally, to prevent neighbors' work from overlapping with work being done by the city government or public utility companies, it is necessary to request a permit from the Buenos Aires government through its website.

It is recommended not to wash the sidewalks with a hose and detergent. Erica Gonçalves.
Regarding maintenance, to avoid cracks in the sidewalks, it is recommended that recently renovated sidewalks be washed for 48 hours beforehand, otherwise the tiles may become loose. To maintain the condition of the frontage, parking cars and motorcycles is prohibited , and cleaning with detergent and hoses , blocking storm drains, and placing furniture or planting plants on the sidewalk without prior authorization should be avoided.
If cars and motorcycles are parked on city sidewalks, this can be reported through the 147 app, by calling *147, or by visiting the Requests website.
