The Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, acknowledged that the issue is on the agenda and that different options are being analyzed and the impact that the measure had on other countries in the region is being looked at.

Patricia Bullrich spoke about the lowering of the age of imputability
The lowering of the age of imputability is a discussion that is reactivated in Argentina every time there is a change of Government. And this new stage, with the libertarian ideology in power, is no exception.

Javier Milei's administration publicly acknowledged that it has the issue in its sights and gave details of the debate that is taking place behind closed doors, before proposing a formal project. “ The age is still being discussed, whether it is (lowering it to) 14 years, whether it is 13 like in Uruguay or 12 like in Brazil ,” Patricia Bullrich surprised this morning, in dialogue with journalist Eduardo Feinmann on Radio Miter . Here is the list with the modality applied by different countries .

The official explained that they are analyzing “ how this has impacted the population” of the countries that lowered the age. What she is clear about is that “ in very serious crimes, such as murder, there must be imputability .”

In the same interview, Bullrich emphasized that it is necessary to differentiate the typology/seriousness of the cases before condemning those responsible: “With those who commit minor crimes, we must try to ensure that they do not commit major crimes . But there must be a much greater penalty for those who commit blood crimes .”

In this context, the Minister of Security stressed that the issue must be analyzed in depth because there are many issues to take into account. “ There are international agreements that put a limit on us , Argentina has them in its Constitution , so we are ordering,” she admitted.

He immediately gave as an example to imitate the so-called “ broken windows theory ” in the United States: “They had special treatment when (someone) started with a minor crime, so that they would not commit a crime again. That at the time was very successful, then that softened and petty crime returned in New York.”

Deportations of foreigners

The problem of insecurity also forces us to focus on the cases of criminals who arrive from other countries. In this regard, Bullrich highlighted that a policy is being implemented by which illegals who commit crimes are expelled.

“We are working with Immigration , every day we are expelling people who belong to criminal organizations and commit crimes from the country. “We work so that Argentina is not full of foreign criminals ,” he concluded.

In the talk there was also space to analyze the ruling that annulled the conviction of former police officer Luis Chocobar. “I felt (that) Justice was done,” commented the Minister of Security that she always supported the former Buenos Aires agent.

“For us it is a very important witness case. Chocobar today is the example of the good police officer , who does what he has to do. He could have acted distracted because he was not on duty, but he protected a tourist who received 9 stab wounds. 'Chocobar and the Argerich (Hospital) saved me,' is the phrase uttered by this tourist, who did not understand how they could condemn a person who acted as he acted,” the official recalled.

Regarding the future of the former police officer, he added: “ Chocobar does not want to return to the police because they did not treat him very well , especially in Avellaneda, where he worked in the local police force. We'll see how his life goes. Today the Chocobar doctrine is that of the good police officer.”

Violence in football

The national government decided to prohibit Rafael Di Zeo and 57 other Boca bars from entering sporting events , but also decided to give the United States - where the next Copa América will be held - a list of all the bars that have been banned from entering. to the stadiums .

In that sense, Bullrich expanded: “ We have an agreement with the State Department and we notify them who are the people who in Argentina cannot enter any stadium. Afterwards, the methodology they apply is a decision of the country.”

“We have to put an end to those who make violence in football a kind of rockstar
, who manage money, give t-shirts to the security forces and have paraphernalia of mafia boss gifts ,” he concluded.
