i am jbeas176. no change in user name. i was a member for 20 years so i know most of you. for those that don’t know me, i am not on social media. 70 years old and retired. i was a commercial general contractor specializing in data centers and hospital renovations. i spend my time between phoenix arizona, medellin colombia, and have owned an apartment in buenos aires for 23 years. hello to all old and new

Hello jbeas176. Welcome. I am also somewhat new to this board. Wow you have owned your apartment a long time. What part of town is it in? I am looking now at an apartment. I like Recoleta the most. Lots of old world charm. Also quieter than Palermo. How much time do you spend in BA vs. Medellin. I have been to Medellin a few times but it seems like it has gone down hill and the last few times I didn't feel welcome as an American. Lots of African Americans there now giving it a bad name as a sex tourism destination. Sad to see.

Good to see you over here @jbeas176. That old forum is on its last legs. It seems like most of the old-timers have moved on. Good to see you still have your apartment in BA.

Welcome aboard. I stopped going to that old forum when this one started. The owner of that forum is a nut. He deleted a few of my posts without even mentioning it. Great to have this new forum.

Welcome. I am mostly in lurker mode here. So many helpful posts. Good to see people coming over. I know many people changed their screen names from the old forum to prevent the owner from blocking them on that site. But good to see some old-timers still around BA. Many left.

Wow hospital renovations? Is that very common? I figure a hospital doesn't get renovated but once every several decades. Did you work in Latin America with that or only USA? What do you think about the situation in Argentina with the price of things? Great to see the exchange rate finally go up with the Dollar. Welcome.

The gang is all here. Welcome home.

thanks for all. i divide my time between all three depending on the season. i married my colombian girlfriend after 18 years together. ots been my plan to move my home city, big city buenos aires, and near the ocean like santa marta colombia. hung up in medellin taking care of patricias mother. the father passed away 2 years ago. my impression of medellin is different. i like the city and have never felt threatened. my problem is you need a car. i live up on the mountain. as for hospital renovations they are going on all the time as new technologies are developed. i did supervise a hospital in bejing. data centers are complicated but right up my alley. i like a challenge. i was a part of the group that conected chicago mecantil with nasdax. i built the com centers every 125 miles and regeneration data centers in cleveland and new jersey about every 450 miles to refocus the light. it was for commodities and was taken to nyc for equities. belive its been written about by mike reilly. believe he called it the flash boys. really interesting to see the infrastructure of the fiber world. i spent time in nasdax and the meetme room on the atlantic coast where all the translantic cables landing in the US are distributed to the regions. look for to helping where i can. again thanks for the welcome
