If you’re going to Iguazú Falls… do you have to stop by Ciudad del Este?

Hey everyone!
I keep hearing people talk about shopping in Ciudad del Este when they visit Iguazú. Has anyone actually done it? Is it really that much cheaper for electronics? I’m thinking about going and wondering if it’s worth crossing over to Paraguay to check it out. I’ve heard you can get phones, laptops, Apple stuff, gaming consoles, even perfumes and watches for way less, but I don’t want to deal with a scam or buy something that’s not legit. Would love to hear if anyone has gone recently, how it works (do you walk over the bridge? do you need anything special to cross?), and if there’s a limit to how much you can bring back to Argentina.

Any tips, experiences, or warnings are welcome!

I went last year and yeah, electronics were definitely cheaper. You just walk across the bridge and it’s like entering another world 😂. Some stores are super sketchy, but there are also big ones like Cellshop and Shopping China that are legit.

If you are interested in Engineering or the smuggling of contraband(just seeing it as people cross the bridge) it is worth the trip. It helped me understand the concept of a border on a deeper level. It is also worthwhile to tour the Itaipu dam as it is the largest in the America's and powers more than half of Paraguay while being joint run with Brazil and Argentina. Seeing the awesome raw power of the Rio Paraná is humbling. Hummers are popular there which is funny. The above poster is right, going to a high end mall is a good bet for cheaper goods.

Cell Shop an Shopping China are the best stores for electronics in Ciudad Del Este
La Petisquera is my favourite for liquor and perfume, maybe vbeacuse I met the owner in B s As a few years back

The duty free shop just after Argentine immigrations is also very good . They actaully have an offical Apple store within the shop.
A great slectiono f fragrances andliquor as well.

Yes that is where I went. Cell Shop. I got an iPhone there and I swear it was the same price as the USA when you factor in state taxes in most states.
