I've been extremely busy the past week working and traveling in Argentina and Brazil. Fortunately 99% of this forum is polite people that willingly share information. I created this forum because the old forum had too much moderating and the owner, Igor was deleting posts that he disagreed with. I don't want to have to do that.

I am disappointed to see some threads where members are arguing with one another about senseless things. I am getting a lot of complaints about certain forum members that create problems and constantly call names to others. This was not what this forum was intended for. I also saw an incident of someone exposing another person's name. That is also not allowed in this forum.

I would recommend members on this forum limit information about themselves and any activities they may be doing in Argentina illegally. I am moving to a system where I won't delete any posts at all even if requested as it would change the continuity of the responses. So there will be no way to delete your old posts. I suggest if you aren't comfortable with this, you leave this forum and stop posting.

We routinely get about 50 people a day that try to join the forum and 99% show up on some spam filter so we don't allow them. There are a lot of people trying to cause chaos and problems on this forum which we try to prevent. This is a forum that I spend money on each month all to share information.

If you can't follow the Golden Rule of treating someone how you want to be treated, then please exit the forum. This is basic common sense. Posting on this forum isn't a right. It's a privilege so you better start acting like it.

I want to thank all of you in advance for taking the time to share and consume knowledge about Buenos Aires. ALL members are welcome and you do NOT have to be an expat. In fact, I encourage locals to participate. I don't consider myself an Expat. I consider myself a local.

Thanks.

Thank you for posting this. I was going to post something like this. Lately a few posts are going a bit over the edge. I moved from the old forum to this one because there are less crazies over here. But they do exist here but great that you are implementing this policy. This is the best forum for Buenos Aires online. I hope it stays that way.

First of all @earlyretirement thanks for creating this forum. I didn't know about the old one but there is no reason for me to even go there. Everyone on this site is very friendly. I learn something about Buenos Aires every day from this website. Now that I got a chance to meet you and @Johnny and @Betsy Ross it feels like home to me.

I can't wait to find my dream apartment and make Buenos Aires home in a few years. Up until now I think you and your team have done a great job with the website. I only see a few posts where people go over the edge. I agree with you there is no reason to call people names.

I do hope that people still will post about anything related to Buenos Aires. Agree about having to be careful to share too much information if you want to stay private but I hope people will still share information.

I haven't even been to Buenos Aires yet. 3 cancelled flights. I am in Spain but I still hope to make it to Buenos Aires this year. I still love to check on posts on this website. Very helpful. I love to read posts and I feel like everyone has their own personality on this site. Much like a real family, a lot of problematic and difficult members of the family.

Good policy! This is common sense but sometimes it has to be spelled out when people act like children. Thanks for this great website.

I like this policy. I am sorry if I broke any rules. I got pushed and pushed. I stay silent for over year. Even when all I ask is apology still get pushed more.

I get very nice post from very nice person on forum. I want to thank for such good advice and this great forum. Thank you @earlyretirement for always making everyone feel included. Many disagreements on this forum but we all love Argentina.

Thank you for making a forum like this available for free. I feel guilty always taking information from it and not posting. It should be common sense what you posted. I read the argument and honestly some people come across as jerks and get everything coming to them. All @Avocado asked for was an apology and the jerk couldn't even do that!

Thanks for great forum. Nuts you have to even mention this. Everyone on this site seems to be normal with the exception of one or two people. Most of the problems seem to be from one person. Why not just ban them?

Wow why do they want to sign up? Just to spam the site? Is this maybe the owner of the other forum? Someone mentioned on one of the threads he is a Russian hacker. Is that true? Maybe he wants to try to destroy this site as his site is so terrible?
I am not sure of intent or motive or if it's just spam. I have no clue if Igor the owner of BAExpats is involved or not and don't really care. Honestly, I spoke to him on the phone a few times and he came across as intelligent. I was really sorry to see that he went unhinged and his behavior with many people's posts. I didn't know how crazy it was until I started this forum and other people told me the same thing has been happening with them over the past decade with him. Honestly, I am glad that he did it. I contributed to that forum for over a decade without asking for anything or any motive other than to help people.

I'm glad I started this forum and I had the chance to meet several of the forum members this last trip and all great people. We get a lot of requests each day to join this site but unfortunately most of it is spam.

I would tend to agree with you. I've been a Moderator for several websites. Some very large national websites in the USA. One thing I have noticed is that some people even if they are intelligent are unhinged. I'm not saying this is the case with him but I have witnessed many strange things over the past decades since the Internet began.

Personally I don't understand the motivation for someone to constantly name call someone and pester them for over a year. That kind of behavior is a bully. And honestly if I see it on this forum I'll just ban them.

I am a patient person and prefer not to have to ban someone. I created the forum to be an open exchange of information about Buenos Aires and Argentina in general. I have mentioned many times it's welcome to everyone, especially locals. I hope I don't have to ban anyone from this website but will if repeating bullying continues.

Thank you for this post and also for this forum. I was on the old forum and noticed once you stopped posting and created this forum the activity has fallen off a cliff on the old site. I know many that migrated over to this one. The owner of that other forum was a tyrant. He was always deleting posts or even editing them.

This site is refreshing and thank you to you and your staff to maintain it.

Thank you for saying something. It is clear that guy has some serious mental issues.

Seems like Avocado isn't the only one that has issues with him. I just saw this on X.

@StatusNomadicus is a very strange person. Name calling some of us for over a year on this forum. How fitting it would be to see him get deported to the US and have to leave Argentina. He posted on this website how he has been evading taxes in the US so I would assume he will have problems there too. Would be a fitting end for how he behaves.

Thanks to you for posting this! Good to see I am not the only one that finds him very strange. I very patient with him for over one year not saying anything. Good to see that many people have issue with him. Not normal behavior or person.
I read repeated posts where you got bullied over and over. I respected you for just ignoring him. Personally don't think you should get involved with being part of him getting deported even though he probably deserves it. I like many of his posts and they are helpful. Part of me thought he was just a troll and did not live in Argentina but that doesn't seem like it's the case.

I would hate to see anyone get deported from any country that they were living in legally. It seems like he made an effort to get legal here. I am not sure why he would openly admit to breaking the law buying his property. I read a post where people warned him what he was doing was not normal declaring so low and he kept arguing he was right. Probably not the brightest if he is posting how he is evading taxes in the USA either. Still think he doesn't deserve to be deported and even worse if the media got ahold of the story. It would not end well for him in the USA. If there is one thing the IRS doesn't stand for is people that evade taxes and then brag about it online.

Boy you are right about that
I don't like @StatusNomadicus but if Avocado goes through with her threat to contact her friend that works for CN5 something tells me that he is going to be famous. I don't know if there is a case of an American getting deported from Argentina for cheating on his taxes both in America and Argentina and bragging about both online!

One thing is clear @earlyretirement if there really is a story in the Argentina media about an American that gets deported from Argentina because he openly bragged on your website about cheating on how low he declared on his house purchase and then bragged about how he cheats on his American taxes, something tells me ExpatsBA is about ready to become famous!

Didn't even think about this. You make a good point. If this really happens, probably every media outlet in the world is going to post about an American that gets deported for breaking the law in Argentina. And then once he gets deported, immediately faces issues in the USA for evading taxes there too and bragging about it online.

I don't think anyone deserves that fate. He will probably think twice about bullying someone online.
