Buses of BA -Buenos Aires changed what I know about buses(video)

Pretty interesting video on the bus system here and some interesting discussions in the comments section too.

One thing I always wondered is if fare is based on how far you're going, do people often lie about a shorter distance to get a cheaper price? I'm sure the bus driver isn't keeping track of who said what to to where. Last I heard fares were pretty cheap regardless, but people going to do what they do.

Since the system is so heavily integrated and regulated, the difference between the minimum fare and the maximum fare is usually only a few cents. Most locals don't find the "savings" worth the social awkwardness of being caught. Also because the drivers are incredibly fast and the routes are fixed, a driver often knows exactly where the zones change.

Many Argentinian have immense pride in our bus system, often calling it the "heartbeat" of the city. It's chaotic but works!

My kids love the "Bondi" and the history of the Fileteado (the intricate decorative art) that used to cover almost every bus. Unfortunately the modern ones are going plain vanilla.

It's a mesh of private vs. public system. There is so much competition between them. Milei's dad made his money in buses.

For as chaotic as it is the SUBE card works very well.

And they are constantly improving the bus corridors in many areas. Since my time here they have steadily improved the system and getting around with dedicated lanes and passing lanes. And they have a good staggering stop system that works and prevent congestion. It's really a great system and works well.
