New wave of shutdowns and layoffs puts Argentine industry on alert

Sounds like you ate over in Soho or Hollywood. You can still get a Choripan less expensive outside of touristy areas but costs have definitely gone up. Some of those prices they are trying to get are outrageous! You can get away with it when there are tons of tourists willing to overpay but I...

‘The land will be left as ashes’: why Patagonia’s wildfires are almost impossible to stop

Sad situation. I keep reading how salaries are going up but it sure doesn't seem like it from every article I'm reading that talks about current salaries. The article mentioned 650,000 pesos to 850,000 pesos for a firefighter. That is only $440 USD to $575 USD per month. You can't convince me...

Argentines’ debt with digital wallets hits an all-time high as ‘irrecoverable’ loans double in 2025

I agree. It's only a matter of time. That's the thing about Argentina. If you wait long enough it gets cheap again.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

That looks really light @FuturoBA because there are probably more expenses you are leaving out. You sound like you can live a frugal life but many expats can't live like that. Things here are surprisingly expensive like good quality toilet paper, paper towels, some fresh fruits and other grocery...

Banking What is going on with the Blue dollar? Why is it going down?

Hey Larry. Were you complaining when Masssa was burning dollars for 9 months straight lowering reserves from $29 million to $21 million trying to win the elections. That would be ugly.... oh wait! Were you complaining then?

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I would agree with this. If you own a property in Argentina you are a bit shielded from all the ups and downs. There is a limit to how much the government can raise monthly expensas since people make so little here. I don't think that will change too much too soon. There was a huge adjustment...

Economy The 3 reasons that pushed the MEP dollar below $1,200 for the first time in four months - Infobae

My Mastercard got 1162 to $1 dollar today. Today with Western Union I got 1,222.20 to $`1 which I thought was great since it's over blue rate. Yesterday I got 1210 in Soho.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I just got back from a trip to Montevideo this past weekend. Holy smokes I thought things were expensive in BA! Uruguay is still more expensive. Not sure how they manage there but restaurants, grocery stores and just about everything is expensive!

Blue dollar hits a new historical record! 1,500 to $1 USD

Well no one knows what will happen once the peso trades freely out of the control of the government messing around with it. This is why the IMF is requiring the cepo end before they give more money. They don't just want to give billions and have the government blow it on currency controls and...

If a cartonero crashes what happens?

I see that all the time. I have witnessed a lot of people damaging other cars while parking. I would never park on the street in BA! The reason why parking garages are so expensive!

What place has the best medialunas in Buenos Aires?

Try the bakery at Anchoita Panaderia. Also very good. Try with ham and cheese. Delicious! Also, make sure to try their Pistachio ice cream! Heaven on earth. https://maps.app.goo.gl/wuDTEcPv5Jgz1DNKA

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I will have to check it out! Yes my complain about Argentine food is it's very bland. It doesn't have much seasoning at all besides salt.

Politics Tomorrow, May 9th, the country will come to a standstill - National strike

Those that want to work are working. Fortunately it seems like most people in Argentina want to get on with life and move on.
