I noticed there are a LOT less Airbnbs this year vs. last year. I think I heard that many locals switched from short term to long term so that might help.

I had some interesting meet ups with some expats. But most of them were losers. It sounds like you can meet some people this way but I prefer making friends with locals. Far more interesting.
