Correct. My husband and I were thinking of relocating to Buenos Aires and did the research and between the tuition for our children and housing we wouldn't have saved too much. What we found was things like having a full time maid were much more affordable in BA but we would spend so much more...
Not sure what you need to Notarize but it is usually quicker to just do it online. Very few things need to get notarized at the Embassy. My husband uses https://www.notarize.com/ all the time for work stuff. Very quick and easy and affordable. US Embassy appointments take a while to schedule.
I thought the food was good at least at the higher end restaurants. We mostly went to highly rated and more expensive restaurants in Recoleta and Palermo and the food was good. Towards the end of the trip we ventured and tried a few places that were mid level at best and the food was meh. We...
Interesting as I didn't see many Golden Retrievers while I was in BA. I saw a lot of other breeds.

I haven't read all of your posts. Some that I read, especially on dogs is great stuff. I can tell you love your dog. Probably more than humans which is great. I don't know which post you are referring to. IIRC, I remember reading a post where you kept telling long time residents of Argentina...
Interesting to see this kind of thing. Also it is scary how connected social media is. Are we sure it is even the same person? Maybe a different screen name? He posted some great posts on a thread about my dog. At least he is a fellow dog lover. His compassion with his dog shined through on...
I talked to a lawyer and they are interpreting it as you say @Darksider415. Do you have to start the clock over again? What do you think? You said you left the country. Do you have to start the 2 years over again? Can you not leave Argentina at all for 2 years? Will you do that?
This makes NO sense at all. We are coming back to Buenos Aires in a few weeks and just found about this as we planned to go to Brazil. Probably not difficult and less than $100 each but why create a hurdle?
Thank you for always sharing these insights on Argentina @earlyretirement . My husband lived and worked there many years ago and it is still in his heart. He still says it is one of the best places he has ever lived. We are trying to still plan to move down there. It is just complicated as we...
This sounds like typical Argy inflation. That actually doesn't sound too bad. I see property prices keep going up so rents will keep going up too. Maybe things are different now but my husband told me when he lived there typically it's a certain % of value of the property. Does anyone know...
I don't think the locals really care anymore about this. It seems like Argentines are open to their Presidents openly stealing from them. A tradition my husband jokes.
Buenos Aires has gone through these expensive to cheap to expensive cycles before. As it is getting expensive again my husband and I are getting more serious about moving again as his company has again made him an offer to transfer to the Buenos Aires office which we are considering seriously...
This certainly signals positives if banks are lending to people and people feel confident to buy with mortgages. I wonder how easily it is to evict someone if they stop paying their mortgage. My husband said it is virtually impossible to get someone out of the property if they stop paying rent...
Nothing really seems to have changed with the plan to cut big government and cut down on the regulations but it seems like the government needs a big win in the elections coming up in October.
