The promises and pitfalls of grocery shopping in Buenos Aires

They are full on the weekends when I go. I also go to Carrefour in Palermo Chico and there are usually lines. They don't like to have many workers at stores which is annoying so typically always a line. I think half the bitching is people that just want prices to come back to how they were...

Argentina is #2 for the most Cash outside of the banking system

I would agree with you. Many things are in cash and I don't think there is any way the government would know. I pay my rent to a local and I just send to her American bank with Zelle. I doubt Argentina knows about all of the money floating out there. Most of my friends actually pay cash...

The promises and pitfalls of grocery shopping in Buenos Aires

I HATE this. So annoying. I wish they would price like normal supermarkets around the world. I haven't seen anything like this. Even in Paraguay they have wonderful supermarkets with reasonable prices.

Milei aggressively celebrates a string of successes - Economist

Milei seems to love rubbing it in with the other side. I just wonder if it will come back to haunt him. War in the Middle East shouldn't be good for Argentina. It could really disrupt things.

Has Argentina become a better place to move as a retiree under Milei or worse? Should I move?

That is something I didn't even think about. That is a good point but you can't go through life worrying about that. Argentina is a long way from the conflict. I honestly don't think Buenos Aires is much cheaper than living in the USA. I know many that say it is just as expensive when you...

Roberto Cachanosky's severe analysis of the Argentine economy: "Stagnation with inflation"

Not only is there no light at the end of the tunnel but stagnation. Take a look at the government's own numbers. The only sectors that grew were agriculture, mining, fishing and some financial (carry trade related). Look at all that fell. The rest stagnated. The ones that fell are the main...

Big strike tomorrow! Anyone know if Ubers will be operating? I heard taxis are on strike too

I get that they don't want people to block the streets but why remove peaceful protesters?

Anything can happen. 2 years seems like an eternity in Argentina.

In Argentina, locals are taking loans to buy food

The prices here are outrageous. How can anyone even try to argue with a straight face that this will work out? Prices and costs in dollars keep going up. It is just totally unsustainable.

You can go to Galeria del Optico. They have a big selection. https://maps.app.goo.gl/KpcbBFioi7GassLw6

The promises and pitfalls of grocery shopping in Buenos Aires

I do NOT like the supermarkets here compared to the States or anywhere else in Latin America. They are terrible here. Must be decades of socialism. I wonder when they will improve...
